Market Fresh May Kit Sneak Peek: Day 1

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Hey, y'all!  I'm so excited to be back sharing another, fantastic, Market Street Stamps' Market Fresh Kit!  This month's kit is called Daydreaming.  It is filled to the brim with soft blossoms, sweet colors, textural patterns, playful tidbits, and so much more!  It also boasts solid and outline butterfly images in a darling, little, two-step, stamp set, designed by the talented Stephanie Washburn.  Enough talk.  Let's just dive right in.
I started this layout by trimming my photographs to fit the woodgrain frames throughout the base page and adhering them inside of said such.  The bottom right picture was matted with a textured, pink cardstock and backed with a hand cut, from patterned paper, and ink distressed, with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, soft blue doily, as well as a blue, ink distressed, doily, cardstock sticker, and flanked with a jar, cut from patterned paper and labeled with the "I love this girl", cardstock sticker.
I then topped the doilies with an embellished, sticker flower, which I wrapped with a little Stone twine, leftover from March's On the Bright Side Kit, and tied in a couple of bows.  The "bathing beauty" title was created from gray alphas and anchored with messy, gray-threaded, machine stitches.
The center photograph's left edge was dressed with a trio of punched, from a text, patterned paper, hearts, stacked one on top of the other and anchored with more, messy, gray-threaded, machine stitches.
There were a couple of banner pennants, on the original, base page, that I didn't feel fit the rest of my design appropriately.  So, I added a trio of hand cut, from patterned papers, pennants, with foam tape, to cover them.  I also like the added dimension this gives to the page.
Another hand cut, from patterned paper, and ink distressed doily was adhered, hanging over the bottom left corner of the page; anchored with gray-threaded, straight, machine stitches; flanked with journaling, which reads, You just loved taking a bath in Grandma's camper's sink!  You are so easy and always just go with the flow; and embellished with a white embossed, on a piece of pink, textured cardstock, hand cut, ink distressed, and pearl dressed butterfly.  The pearls are the last of my stash from February's Farmhouse Dreamin' Kit.  I also added a stamped butterfly trail, from So Happy, in Wild Wasabi ink.
I used another set of alphas, that come with this month's kit, to create the word "BABY" and journaled a little, personal info, which reads, 7 months, June 12, 2009, in the bottom center of the page.
Finally, I filled in a couple of the frames with bits of more, color-coordinating, patterned papers and completed the look with a punched from pink, textured cardstock; dry embossed with polka dots; and ink distressed, photo corner, which I secured with foam tape.
Did you get all that?  LOL!  That's one down and two more to go, folks!  So, let's keep right on digging away.
I started this layout by haphazardly adhering a couple strips of patterned papers near the bottom of the woodgrain, base page.  LOVE the way the hearts, on the top strip, tie in the red from the photographs!  I then tucked a paper doily, from my stash, in the bottom right corner and adhered my matted, with textured, white cardstock, photographs, stacked, haphazardly, down the center of the page.
The pink roses were hand cut from patterned paper, ink distressed, adhered in their respective locations, and topped with hand cut, from another, floral, patterned paper, blossoms, which, too, were ink distressed and adhered, some with foam tape, throughout the design.  A handful of hemp twine bows add a bit of texture, and a bunch of clear Rain Dots give the flowers that dew-kissed look.  Both of those last elements came from my stash.
The "going... going... GONE" title was created from more of that supply of gray alphas...
and the butterfly was cut from that same rose, text, patterned paper as before, ink distressed, and dressed up with a little glitter.
Finally, I tucked a wood-framed, journaling card, which reads, You just couldn't keep your eyes open, all snuggled up cozy in Daddy's lap, while Ezekiel was having a little show-off time for kindergarten graduation.  I could watch you sleep all day.  I'm so blessed to have such a healthy, beautiful daughter to call my very own.  May 8, 2009, just to the left of the photographs and above the bottom, blossom cluster, to complete the look.
Got time for one more?
I started this layout by adhering a handful of color-coordinating, patterned papers, one of which was punched across its bottom edge (The large scallops were hand cut.) and another of which was anchored with gray-threaded, straight stitches, tied off, to the front of the layout, at either end, as well as a fabulous, glitter ribbon, haphazardly, near the bottom of the chevron, base page.  As a side note, the green, stripe, patterned paper came from March's On the Bright Side Kit.  It just seemed to need that bit of green to ground the design, and the only other green that comes in this month's kit is on the back of that yummy, chevron, patterned paper, which I just couldn't give up.  LOVE!
After adhering the matted, with white, textured cardstock, photograph, I dressed up the space just to its left with a woodgrain, doily, cardstock sticker, which I beefed up with circular, gray-threaded, messy, machine stitches and used to journal, Watching the light in your eyes when you read is one of my greatest joys.
Over the journaling doily I adhered a couple of jars, both of which were hand cut from patterned paper.  The one farthest to the left also received an additional trio of hand cut and lifted, patterned, paper stars, as well as a length of hemp twine, from my stash, wrapped around its top edge and tied in a bow.  It was also used to ground the June 27, 2010, date label.  The jar nearest the photograph was filled with lots of stamped, in Lucky Limeade and Daffodil Delight inks, on Whisper White cardstock, butterflies, using the negative image, as well as stamped, in Basic Black ink, on a map, patterned paper, butterflies, using the positive butterfly image.  They were all hand cut out and adhered in their respective locations.  The top of the jar was also leaned against the actual jar's right side.
Lots of additional butterflies, prepared in the same way as above, were adhered throughout the design, before all the solid-colored ones were dressed up with a little glitter.  One of those carries the "never forget today", cardstock, sticker label.
And finally, another dresses up the top right corner of the "let your DREAMS take FLIGHT" title, which was created from, yet again, more of those fantastic, gray alphas.  LOVE 'em!
Oh!  I also snuck in a little stamped, in Basic Gray ink, "explore.", from Gone Campin', under the bottom edge of those patterned, paper strips.  That bottom edge just needed a little something more, and a simple sentiment seemed to fit the boat.
I'm linking each of these up to Scrap FIT's Workout #67 to decorate with a doily.  Whether it be a cardstock sticker, patterned paper, or an actual doily, each one of these pages seems to fit the bill.

That's all, for today, folks!  Don't forget to stop by Brenda Weaver's and Stephanie Washburn's blogs to see what fabulousities they've cooked up with this month's kit, as well as the Market Street Stamps Blog for all the details and information regarding your kit club membership.  Oh!  And don't forget to join in the fresh conversation over, in the Market Fresh Kits Group, in the Neighborhood, too.
Then, we'll all be back, at the same time and place, tomorrow night, with a fabulous lineup of card creations, boasting more from Daydreaming.  Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed day!
