PageMaps Bella Blvd. Sketch Contest & April Colour Suite

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

I'm back, as promised, with another layout this morning.  This one is of the first day of our little getaway, to Omaha, in 2009.  Enjoy!
I started this layout by adhering a piece of red, plaid, patterned paper to the YUMMY, black, travel, patterned, paper base; topping it with a punched strip of red, notebook, patterned paper, as well as two, hand cut, from an orange, woodgrain, patterned paper and bright pink, polka dot, patterned paper, scalloped edges; and anchoring everything with black-threaded, straight stitches.
I then matted my pictures with Whisper White cardstock and adhered them in their respective locations.  I couldn't resist adding those pictures of the little, pig noses, sticking out of the side of the semi truck that we passed along the way.  A "travel" flashcard was tucked under their bottom edges; flanked with a bright pink, cardstock, sticker tag, over which I layered a hand cut, screen print, journaling card, upon which I journaled, There's nothing like getting out on the open road, filled with anticipation of all the adventures our journey will hold...
and used as the foundation for both my "road trip" title, which was created from orange, glitter alphas, as well as the "togetherness" and "harmony" stickers, one of which was popped off the layout surface with foam tape.
My big flower was created from a fabric, Picadilly flower and a bright pink, velvet blossom, topped with an orange, metal flower, as well as a red, button blossom, laced with hemp twine.  A couple of layered, felt flowers and a cardstock, Picadilly flower round out the quartet.  Then, a duet of hemp twine bows add additional texture...
and a mint, ruffle ribbon, flanked by a couple of white, paper leaves, grounds it.
I also tucked a mint, "TODAY", cardstock sticker under its left edge, popped it up with foam tape, and used it to journal, Destination: Omaha, NE 3 hrs.
I then turned my attention to the top left corner; adhered a trio of black and bright pink, sticker pennants flush with the left edge of my layout; anchored them with messy, black-threaded, machine stitches; and dressed them up with a felt, layered flower, as well as a couple of cardstock, Picadilly flowers and button blossoms, laced with hemp twine.
Inspiration for this layout came from PageMaps' Bella Blvd. Sketch Contest...
and Scrapbook & Cards Today's April Colour Suite.
I'm also thrilled to share that this card was featured, in the Moxie Fab World, for Cath's How to Create a Challenge-Winning Project post, and this layout was named a Workout #66 Winner at Scrap FIT.  Thank you so very much to all the designers who made said such possible!  To say I'm honored just isn't enough anymore.  I'm such a blessed girl!  Thank you!
And thanks so much, to you all, for stopping by!  Now, get out there and make the most of your Tuesdays!  Oh!  And don't forget that you have until the close of today EST to link up your takes on The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #129.  Off to read with my big kiddo and get some cleaning done.  Hugs!
