Papercraft Star 98: Birthday

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

So good to have you all visiting for Papercraft Star's Challenge #98: Birthday, to create a birthday card or bag!  There are an awful lot of summer birthdays, folks.  Not to mention, who doesn't need to have a birthday creation on hand?  So, this challenge is for everyone; and here's where it, combined with colors of the inspiration picture below, led me.
I started this card by machine stitching, with white-threaded, straight stitches, through the given grid of the patchwork, patterned paper, before adhering it to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face and creating a paper-pierced frame at each corner.
I then trimmed the bottom of a strip of bobbin, patterned paper with a punched strip of kraft, polka dot, patterned paper; machine stitched, with white-threaded, straight stitches, double lines across the top of it and, with white-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between it and its trimmed, scalloped edge; adhered it to the horizontal center of the card face; and wrapped its middle, twice, with a pink, gingham ribbon, which I tied, in a bow, near the left edge of the card face.
An ink distressed, with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, "CAKE" Bingo card was tucked, with foam tape, against the right edge of the ribbon bow, in the vertical center of the card face and used to ground the white, crochet flower, which was topped with a pink, Vintage Style button, laced with hemp twine and pierced with a couple of green, leaf, trinket pins.
Finally, I stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment, in Basic Black ink, on a red-framed, finger, sticker label, which I had ink distressed and, in turn, adhered, with foam tape, over all layers, in the bottom center of the card face.
Here's the yummy inspiration picture, if you so choose to use it.
Now, it's your turn!  You have until next Monday, May 28, 2012, at 6:00 am EST, which just so happens to be my big sister's birthday and to whom this card is heading, to link up your takes, over at the challenge link above, in order to be in the running to win digital sheets from our permanent sponsor, The House Across the Bay.
Please also use that link to check out what the rest of the team has been up to.  Sylvia is, once again, our featured designer this week.  Thanks ever so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful Wednesday!
