Stuck May 15th Challenge & MSSCC14

Friday, May 18, 2012

Happy Friday!  We're off to the museum and lunch, with friends, in just a bit; but before that I wanted to share a sweet page I made of my baby girl, using one of the many pictures I took of her on her first birthday.
I started this layout by adhering the framed, with Whisper White cardstock, photograph near the right center of that fabulous, woodgrain, doily, base page, which I stamped, in Basic Black ink, with a trio of doilies and machine stitched, with black-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges.
I then tucked a handful of hand cut, from patterned papers, pennants, which I penned around their edges, under the photograph's top left and bottom right edges.
The peach tags were die cut from Blush Blossom cardstock; ink distressed; stamped, in watermark ink, with the Grace background; and adhered, in their respective locations, paired with kraft tags, which, too, were ink distressed.  The kraft tags were also stamped, in Basic Black ink, with the notepad background; and the top one was used to journal, All dressed up in your new birthday dress, and you couldn't even keep your eyes open, after church, long enough to go home and celebrate.
The watercolor flowers were hand cut from patterned paper; ink distressed; adhered to the base page, some with foam tape; and embellished with hemp twine bows.
The ones to the bottom left corner of the picture were further enhanced with a white, fabric flower, anchored with a black, Vintage Style button, laced with hemp twine; a floral, chipboard button, laced with more hemp twine; a couple more hemp twine bows; and a stamped, in Pretty in Pink and Pool Party inks, on Whisper White cardstock, hand cut, and glittered butterfly.
The "sleeping BEAUTY" title was created from aqua, mini alphas and pink, tile letters; and a quartet of pink Twinkle Goosebumps, as well as another, chipboard button, laced with hemp twine, complete the look.
Inspiration for this layout came from Stuck's May 15th Sketch Challenge...
and Market Street Stamps' May Paint the Town: Color Challenge 14.
And look who's school books came in the mail this week!  She grabbed a pencil and wanted to get started right away, and I know I'm the Mommy and have the heart of a teacher, but her unquenchable thirst for knowledge brings tears to my eyes.
Thanks so much, as always, for taking the time out of your busy schedules to visit little 'ole me!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Just simply beautiful, Jinny! I love the mix of soft and hard elements- those pastels look beautiful with the accents of black and gray! And my little guy is the SAME way about learning- makes me so proud! He couldn't wait to break into his practice books the summer before Pre-K!
