Weekend Snapshots

I cannot even begin to explain what a busy last few days we've had around my house!  Ezekiel finished his homeschool curriculum last Wednesday.  So, we've been trying to get used to new schedules, or rather the lack of such for a time, and balance what still needs to be done to get grades sent off to our handlers, which is all on me, but keeping two kiddos out of trouble, with no set schedules, is proving to make said such difficult on top of everything else that comes with managing a household.

On Saturday, we took the kiddos to our city-wide parade.  It's not much to speak of, but you can't beat getting to munch on Lamar's donuts at the same time...
and the drum lines are always fun.
Then, for Mother's Day, we went to the Kansas City Zoo for a Pancakes for Penguins breakfast, including Chris Cakes pancakes and sausages and coffee from The Roasterie.
We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather, and the animals were just as spectacular as ever.
We didn't recall having ever seen this guy before, and he looked so regal perched up on his branch.
These red river hogs are always beyond entertaining and never fail to make us laugh, and now, they've got four little ones to boot!  Too cute!
Then, this morning, we met some friends at a park we'd never been to before.  It was one of the nicest parks we've ever been to!  Unfortunately, it's quite a ways from our home, but my kiddos really loved the sand and water features!
I meant to get home around 1 pm, so I could finish the laundry and sneak in a little quiet time, in my creative space, while my kiddos rested.  But we had a picnic at the park and didn't end up leaving until around 1:30 pm.  Then, fully expecting Adina to be passed out in her car seat, we stopped by a friend's house, to drop something off, on the way home.  Unfortunately, Ezekiel has been really great at picking on her lately; and she didn't have a chance to fall asleep, before we got there.  So, instead of it being a quick trip, everyone had to pile out of the car to play, and we didn't end up getting home until around 4 pm.  Needless to say, Adina is still resting.  The laundry is undone.  Dinner needs to be made, and I'm exhausted; but time with friends is priceless, not to mention desperately needed for this lonely Mommy, and I wouldn't have changed it for anything.

Thanks so much for checking in on us, and have a truly wonderful week!
