Papercraft Star 101: Father's Day

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

We have a very fitting Challenge 101: Father's Day, this week, over at Papercraft Star.  I've been having fun with a fabulous, flocked, yellow, star transparency and decided to pull it into this little number.

I started this card by trimming the left side of a piece of green, plaid, patterned paper with a strip of yellow, grid, patterned paper; overlaying it with a flocked, yellow, star transparency; framing the prepped piece with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock; and machine stitching, with black-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges.

I then wrapped the prepped piece, vertically and between the two, patterned, paper connections, with a length of black, satin ribbon and tied it, in a knot, near the top edge of the prepped piece.  It was further embellished with a couple of hemp twine bows; a paper crimped, Basic Black, cardstock, leaf die cut; two, layered, felt, star buttons, laced with both hemp twine and a length of Caribbean twine; and a trio of black pearls.

The "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY" sentiment was stamped, first in Lucky Limeade ink and then surrounded in Basic Black ink, on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and framed with a fabulous, black, graphic frame, which was grounded, to the prepped piece, at either end, with black brads, before the entire thing was adhered, with foam tape, to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face, to complete the look.

I have said it before, you can make a "man" card that breaks all the manly rules. I have never seen anyone do that the way you do. It always works ! The star transparency makes the stars look like they are floating - that is magic !! ♥♥♥♥♥♥ -J-
