Wplus9 June/July Release: Day 2

Friday, June 1, 2012

So glad to have you all back visiting for Day 2 of Wplus9 Design's June/July Release!  Today we're boasting creations inspired by Fresh Preserves and its coordinating Preserves Jar die.
I started this card by trimming the top edge of a piece of aqua, plaid, patterned paper with a punched strip of bright pink, polka dot, patterned paper and its bottom edge with a woodgrain, floral, patterned paper, which I had stamped, in stamped-off, Basic Black ink, with the "friend" text from Defining Words.
I then framed the prepped piece with Oatmeal cardstock and machine stitched, with bright-pink-threaded, straight stitches, around three of the four sides and, with bright-pink-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the woodgrain and plaid, patterned papers, before stamping the top center of the plaid, patterned paper, in Basic Black ink, with the "Sending sweet wishes your way on this very special day!" sentiment from yesterday's Fresh Picked stamp set.  Y'all, I'm telling you, that set is packed to the brim with such sweet, little sentiments!  Matter of fact, I even pulled another into one of tomorrow's creations.
A length of Basic Grey, taffeta ribbon was then wrapped around the bottom center of the plaid, patterned paper; tied, in a bow, near the prepped piece's left edge; and embellished with a raspberry button, laced with a duet of hemp twine bows.  The space just to the right of it boasts the sweet, little, jelly jar and label, which I die cut, using the Preserves Jar die, from White cardstock.  The lid was also die cut, using the Preserves Jar die, from Basic Grey cardstock.  I then stamped the jar, in Rose Red ink, with the polka dot fill-in and adhered the lid to its top, before anchoring it, with foam tape, to the card face.  The label, which is the third and final piece of the Preserves Jar die, was stamped, in Basic Grey ink, with the label surround; in Rose Red and Wild Wasabi inks, with the raspberry image; and, in Basic Black ink, with the "Fresh PRESERVES" label.  It, too, was adhered, with foam tape, in its respective location, to complete the look, before adhering the entire prepped piece, with more foam tape, to the Kraft, cardstock, card face to complete the look.
I'm turning this one in to Little Red Wagon's Challenge #135: Wood You?  Now, how about one more, just to show off one of the sweet, little sentiments that comes with today's featured set?

I started this card by stamping the cake image, from Pile It On, in White ink and in triplicate, across the bottom of a piece of Kraft cardstock and the lace image, from Mehndi Medallions, in White ink, across the top of it.  I then topped the cakes with the stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, fruit trio, silhouette image from Fresh Preserves.  LOVE the way they look like chocolate covered berries!  They were also decked out, between each layer, with strings of pearls.

But before that, I stamped a strip of Oatmeal cardstock, in Rich Razzleberry and Always Artichoke inks, with the raspberry images; adhered it in its respective location...

machine stitched, with brown-threaded, straight stitches, around the entire piece and, with brown-threaded, zig-zag stitches, along the bottom edge of the stamped, raspberry strip; and distressed everything with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks.

A length of raspberry, velvet ribbon was then wrapped, around the prepped piece, just above the stamped, raspberry strip; tied, in a bow, near the left edge; trimmed below with an ink distressed piece of a paper doily; and embellished with a stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, on an ink distressed, Oatmeal, cardstock, tag die cut, using the Timeless Tags die, "HAVE A Sweet BIRTHDAY" sentiment, which was pierced through the center of the bow with a mini safety pin and dressed up with a hemp twine bow.  The entire prepped piece was then adhered, with foam tape, to the Always Artichoke, cardstock, card face.

We've got one more fabulous, stamp set and its coordinating die, as well as a brand new die to coordinate with a past stamp set, to share, with you all, tomorrow.  Then, we've got the Full Reveal and our famed Group Post to round out release week.  You don't want to miss a day, y'all!  Don't forget to stop by the rest of the team's blogs to see what all they've been up to, as well as to leave Dawn some love, on the Wplus9 Design Blog, for your chance to win some of this month's new release goodies.  Thanks so much for taking a look today!  Have a wonderful weekend!

I just love how you design your cards. I don't know if you think about it consciously, but I love the placement of your elements, especially on the first card. The touches of red were spot on. Awesome job!!
