Papercraft Star 105: Water

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

I know that I keep saying that the challenges over at Papercraft Star are fitting for the season upon us, but y'all, from weddings to sunshine to ice-cream, they just make me think of summertime!  And today's Challenge 105: Water isn't any different.  Matter of fact, with the 100+ degree temperatures, that much of the country, including us right here in Kansas, have been having, this last one is just about the only thing on our minds.
I started this card with that center, multicolored, patterned paper.  It looked just like cool waves to me.  I then pieced a black, star, patterned paper across its top edge and a neutral, graphic, patterned paper across its bottom, before stamping a row of hearts, which, later, received a healthy dose of glitter, in Tempting Turquoise ink, just above the latter and framing the prepped piece with Pool Party cardstock.  I then machine stitched, with black-threaded, straight stitches, around the papers' combined edges and, with black-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the neutral graphic and multicolored, wave, patterned papers...
before stamping the center of the prior, in Basic Black ink, with the "You're the ONLY fish in my sea!" sentiment.
A length of black, gingham ribbon was wrapped around the connection between the black star and multicolored, wave, patterned paper; tied, in a bow, just left of horizontal center; and embellished with a turquoise button, laced with a couple of hemp twine bows.
The prepped piece was then adhered, with foam tape, to the kraft, cardstock, card face, before using a template to cut a circle from that same kraft cardstock; ink distressing the circle's edges; and machine stitching, with messy, black-threaded, machine stitches, around its edges.  It was then adhered, with foam tape, just to the right of the embellished bow and filled in with a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on white cardstock, fish, which was colored in with colored pencils and mineral spirits; hand cut out; adhered, with foam tape, in its respective location; and had a little Crystal Effects added to its eye, just for shine.
Now, it's your turn, y'all!  Whether it be a pool, lake, ocean, or river, here's your peaceful, inspiration pic to help get you started on your watery creations.
You have until Monday, July 30, 2012, at 6:00 am EST, to link up your takes, over at the challenge link above, in order to be in the running to win digital sheets from our permanent sponsor, The House Across the Bay.
Please also use that link to check out what the rest of the girls have been up to.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful Wednesday!
