PDCC140 - Simon Says Stamp

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

So good to have y'all visiting for The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #140!  Jax has cooked up a gorgeous color story of Caribbean blue, shoreline, and sunshine, for us, this week.  And I used them to not only play with some of my favorite stamp sets that just don't get enough attention, but also to create a tag and wrap up a package for my neighbors.  They checked in on our dog, Summer, for us, while we were away celebrating this weekend.
The light green rim is throwing this one off for me a bit, but I started by dry embossing a piece of teal cardstock with the polka dot background and fitting it into the center of the lid.  I then wrapped the package with a length of aqua, crinkle ribbon, which I tied in a bow and embellished with a sweet tag.  To create the tag, I die cut the shape from Barely Banana cardstock; stamped the frame in Barely Banana ink and the "for you" sentiment in Basic Black ink; pieced two lengths of color-coordinating, patterned papers across the center of it; anchored those papers with aqua-threaded, straight and zig-zag, machine stitches; and topped it with a white embossed, on vellum, and hand cut butterfly, which I dressed up with a white, resin blossom.
It was then laced with a teal ribbon, which I tied off with a length of hemp twine, laced through a soft yellow button and tied in a bow.  A white, heart, trinket pin completes the look.
It was also stuffed to the brim with lots of homemade, using one of my favorite Paula Deen recipes, Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Now it's your turn!  Here's this week's inspiration board to get you started.
You have until the close of the day EST, next Tuesday, July 17, 2012, to link up your takes at the challenge link above.  Please also use that link to see what the rest of the girls have created, just for your viewing pleasure, as well as to find out what you're playing for this week from our monthly sponsor, Simon Says Stamp.

We're also thrilled to have Teri Anderson guest designing with us this week.  Her creations are so bright and happy and always possess just the right amount of texture, so you absolutely don't want to miss stopping by her blog to leave her lots of love.  Welcome, Teri!  And thanks so much, to you all, for stopping by!  Have a blessed Thursday!  Hugs!

This is stunning and yummy all at the same time, Jinny! I had to come for a closer look on that Verve butterfly because at first it looked like you had somehow cut out the small pieces! That's how cool it looks on vellum! Ha! You tricked me! Stunning :)
