Paper Sweeties: Peek

Friday, August 31, 2012

We're back with another, little peek, alluding to nine, brand new, Paper Sweeties stamp sets, coming to your door the middle of September.  And I'm absolutely thrilled to share that Debbie has designed a darling, little boy, named Jake, to compliment her ever-growing collection.  So, that's who I'd like to introduce you to today, and I've decked him out to honor our military heroes.
I started this card by piecing together the blue graphic and red, star-burst, patterned papers; trimming their center with a strip of star, patterned paper, as well as a die cut strip of red, glitter paper; adhering the resulting piece to the Night of Navy, cardstock, card base; and machine stitching, with both navy-threaded, straight and zig-zag stitches, around their edges and between their connections.  I then tucked a sweet, little, mini envelop in the bottom left corner of the design...
before stamping the "You're My Hero" sentiment, in Jet Black ink, on a kraft "SPECIAL DELIVERY" tag, that we actually received, last Christmas, on a delicious, Rum Cake, gift package.
I then trimmed it with a denim ribbon, embellished with a red button, laced with a duet of hemp twine bows, and adhered that tag, with foam tape, in the bottom right corner of the design.
Now, let's get a closeup look at Jake.  He was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on white cardstock; colored in with colored pencils and mineral spirits; hand cut out; dressed in a military uniform, created in the same way as Jake himself and embellished with little, Crystal Effects buttons; and adhered, with foam tape, just to the left of the "SPECIAL DELIVERY" tag, to complete the look.
That gets you started, y'all!  But we'd just love to you all come on back, for our September Release, beginning September 14, 2012, and ending September 16, 2012.  Until then, please be sure to stop by the Paper Sweeties Blog, as well as the rest of the team's blogs to see what they've cooked up, just for your viewing pleasure.  Then, be sure to have a look around the Paper Sweeties Online Store to see what sweet, little stamp sets have already been released, as well as our Flickr Pool and Pinterest Boards to see what everyone is making with these darling stamps.  We're also thrilled to share that we've got a brand new online gallery at Paper Craft Planet.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy stamping, y'all!

Friday Faves

This time of the month is so fun for me!  I hope you all like it, too; because I just love sharing lots of things, papercrafty or otherwise, that catch my eye throughout the month.  Many of them come from visits to all your lovely blogs.  Others catch my watchful eye simply because they are types of things or come from manufacturers I love, and I'm always looking for what's new and hot and changing.  With that said, let's dive right in to Noel Mignon's latest Evening Stroll Kit.  I just adore the color palette of this beauty.  Yellow just makes everything happy!  Plus, I see those yummy, Jenni Bowlin, kraft tags I love so much; lots of sweet buttons and brads; a couple of yummy stamps (And you all know how much I love my stamps ;).); and even a package of Queen & Co.'s Twinkle Goosebumps.  Although, the last package of Twinkle Goosebumps I had were pink; and within a couple of months, they faded to white.  Is that normal?!
Many of the papers and elements above come from one of Echo Park's latest lines.  So, just because I couldn't possibly love it any more, I'm duplicating, just a wee bit, and throwing in their For the Record 2 Collection Kit.
Next up is Zutter's 7"x5" Corrugated Board.  Y'all, my friend Tracey uses this stuff all the time, and she's sold it for me!  I NEED some of my own.  YUM!
Maya Road's Our Home Metal Vintage Trinkets...
Floral Garden Fabric Tape...
and Spool Sentiments Stamp Sheet have me written all over them!  Swoon!
I'm also just lovin' this darling Clear Whimsy Silhouette Stamp from Jenni Bowlin.  Gosh, I don't think I'd ever be able to put her down!
I've jumped on board the Washi Tape movement and fallen head-over-heels for Freckled Fawn.  My latest love is this Black Tape Measure Washi Tape.  I think that I've said it 100 times over, but I just LOVE the versatility of a fabulous neutral!
Lawn Fawn's A Birdie Told Me is a must for all your scrapbooking needs and rounds out the papercrafty portion of this month's Friday Faves.
Retrofied has been featured here on my blog for a number of their fabulous bags, but I simply adore this new Retro Clock Hobo Bag and Pouch Set!  It just screams, "FUN!"
I've also got my eye on this Medium Gray Chevron Hobo Purse from Janet Elizabeth.  LOVE the contrasting yellow lining, and those trendy chevrons speak volumes!
Finally, and in speaking of chevrons, Pepperjack Home's Set of 5, 4"x5" Small Chevron Waterproof Zippered Reusable Snack Bags are absolutely perfect for back to school.  Plus, they're 50% off right now!  Imagine all we could do for our environment and still be stylin' ;).
I'll be back, late tonight, with a peek of what Paper Sweeties has in store, for you, this September.  Oh!  And don't forget that you have until the close of today to take advantage of FREE SHIPPING, with coupon code, in the Paper Sweeties Shoppe.  Until then, have a happy start to your weekends!  And for those of you who live in the U.S., may your Labor Days be filled with fun, laughter, good food, family, and friends.  Hugs!

MSS: Love This

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Hey, y'all!  I'm so excited to be here with my first feature over at the Market Street Stamps Blog, showing off lots of goodies from the Online Shop!  You can find the complete stamp list and their links in my {Supplies & Tools} section at the bottom of this post.  Check it out!
I started this layout by stamping a piece of ink distressed, Always Artichoke cardstock, in Old Olive ink, with the notepad background and a piece of ink distressed, Oatmeal cardstock, in Tangerine Tango ink, with the houndstooth background.  I then used them to flank my photograph which had been adhered near the center of the sanded, "LOVE THIS", cardstock, base page.  I then adhered a couple of Ormolu tags near the top left corner of the layout and machine stitched, with black-threaded, messy stitches, around the edges of the entire page...
before having fun with all the fabulous, circular elements from Nuts About Nature.  A couple were stamped in Old Olive ink; a couple more were stamped in Jet Black ink and glittered; and another one yet was embossed with Melon Mambo embossing powder.  Lots more circular embellishments, including blue gemstones; chipboard buttons, laced with hemp twine; and a tin pin, dress up the whole design.  I also stamped the echoed, "LOVE THIS" title, in Jet Black ink, in amongst those circles.
A strip of Very Vanilla cardstock was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the alphabet background; adhered, at an angle, just to the right of my photograph; and flanked, down its right side, with a strip of yellow, flocked, star transparency.
I then anchored a vellum circle over them, with black-threaded, messy, machine stitches; secured a couple lengths of hemp twine with staples and tied them in a double bow; and threw in a little length of bright pink ric-rac, before topping the center of the circle with a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on white cardstock, camera, which had been colored in with colored pencils and mineral spirits, hand cut out, and dressed up with a little Crystal Effects for the lens and glitter for the flash.
Finally, I added a punched, from heart, patterned paper, photo corner in the top left corner of the photograph and a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a yellow, polka dot, patterned paper and hand cut arrow in its bottom left corner...
and used the stamped houndstooth to journal, There's just nothing like a new toy!  February 26, 2012.
Further inspiration for this layout came from PageMaps' Riddle Me This: Blog Refresher Sketch Contest...
and Color Me Scrappy's Challenge #10.
Thanks so much for stopping by, y'all!  Be blessed!

ScrapFIT Workout #74

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Good afternoon!  I promised you all, in my previous, Bazzill Basics Giveaway Winner post, that I'd be back, this afternoon, with a layout to share; and I'm here, now and while my house is peaceful with rest-time slumber, to bring you just that.
I started this layout by using a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker and the fabulous, alphabet stencil that came in my August Jenni Bowlin kit to stencil in portions of the alphabet background on the stitched, grid, base page.
I then layered a vintage, scallop journaling card and strip of chevron, pattern paper, which was anchored with black-threaded, straight stitches, as well as a mustard, stripe, chevron, cardstock sticker, haphazardly and horizontally, near the base of that alphabet, stencil background.
After matting my photographs in Whisper White cardstock and adhering them in their respective locations, I laced a couple of hemp twine bows through an airplane tag, which was penned with Ezekiel, 4-yrs.-old and adhered, with foam tape, just to the right of my bottom photo.  I then dressed it up with an aqua, "FOUND AT:" Chris & Shain's, Loveland, CO, cardstock sticker; a white, crochet flower, anchored with a navy Bella Brad; a mustard dahlia; and an aqua button, laced with white string.
The bottom edge of the layout was grounded with a strip of soft green, stitched, diamond, patterned paper, as well as a "MEMORIES", cardstock, sticker tab and a black, scallop label, which I filled in with the June 2008 date.  Both of the latter were anchored with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches to mimic those of the base page.
The window at the top of the base page was labeled with Colorado Springs, CO and tops the anchored, with more black-threaded, straight, machine stitches, "SWEET REUNION" title, which was made from ivory, shadow alphas and navy, bubble letters and, in turn, tops my journaling.  The journaling reads, After all the fun @ Chris and Shain's, we headed down to Garden of the Gods with plans of staying overnight in the Springs and hitting the zoo on Wed.  Because of all the busyness of the 1st few days of our trip & the terrific stops we made along the way, none of us realized, until it was way too late, that Ezekiel had left his precious Pooh Bear & blankie behind.  We were able to reach Chris' Mom to overnight them to us, but he still had to sleep 2 nights without his lovie.  We had given up hope of them making it, before we had to leave for Durango, when we decided to check the front desk one last time & found Ezekiel's treasured pkg. just setting there.  Boy, was he excited!
Inspiration for this layout came from ScrapFIT's Workout #74.  Thanks, Diana!
I'll be back, first thing tomorrow morning, with another fun layout, boasting all kinds of yummy stamps from Market Street Stamps.  I hope today's piece inspires you to stop back by.  Thanks so much for visiting me!  Big hugs!

MFW: Minty Fresh & Sketchbook Saturday #74

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Good morning!  Just popping in here today to share a fun, little card I made, using a couple stamps that have been calling my name lately.  I think they speak for themselves ;).  Thank goodness God's in control!  Enjoy!
I started this card by trimming the vertical, long sides of a piece of polka dot, mint, patterned paper with strips of Soft Suede cardstock; trimming their center with a die cut strip of Whisper White cardstock; and machine stitching, with coral-threaded, zig-zag stitches, the lengths of the patterned paper's outside edges.
I then wrapped a length of mint ribbon, horizontally, around the top of the die cut cardstock; tied it, in a bow, near the right edge of the prepped piece; and embellished it with a coral button, laced with hemp twine bows and topped with a pearl, before adhering the prepped piece, with foam tape, to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face.
I then hand cut the jar from patterned paper; stamped it, in Jet Black ink, with the mosquito, which was colored in with colored pencils and mineral spirits and had its wings glittered; adhered, with foam tape, just to the left of the embellished bow; and dressed up with a dimensional embellishment.
Finally, I stamped the "SOMETIMES, LIFE JUST SUCKS." sentiment, in Jet Black ink, on a hand cut, vellum, pennant, which was tucked into the dimensional embellishment, to complete the look.
Inspiration for this card came from the Minty Fresh Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday: Challenge #74.
Before I run, I'm absolutely thrilled to share that this card earned me an Honorable Mention Cup of Tea in The Shabby Tea Room, and this one was named a Trigger Target in the Moxie Fab World.  Woohoo!  Thanks so much to all the designers who made said such possible.  I'm honored!

Weekend Snapshots

Monday, August 27, 2012

Happy Monday, y'all!  I trust that your weekends were filled with a little rest and relaxation.  Ours just flew by!  But it was so great!  It started with finishing up another week of school.
I also sorted through Adina's wardrobe to uncover what still fit and what needed to removed to make room for fall.  If you can believe it, the photo below is what just doesn't fit anymore, and the bulk of it was handed down to us.  We have been so blessed!
Saturday morning, the kiddos ran a few errands with Daddy, as well as made a stop, by Lowe's, for another Build and Grow Clinic, so that I could get a few things done around the house.  The time went so fast ;)!
Then, Adina wanted to make pink Gloppy Goop; and I was happy to oblige, while we were waiting for the rain we were supposed to get.
Our weather people promised two inches of rain, but we didn't even get half of that :(.  We did get some, though, and my kiddos were out dancing in it and trying to catch drops in their mouths...
while my hubby was grilling burgers, and I was putting the last of our homegrown apples to work in an apple pie.
We rounded out the weekend, on Sunday, with a precious time with our church family.  It was our annual baptism at Kill Creek Park.  What an honor it was to hear the powerful stories of the lives God has and is changing!  Over 80 people, from our congregation, went down into the waters as a testimony to each story told.
My hubby is in the baseball cap, to the far left, in the photo above.  He's a pastoral elder at our church and was blessed to get to assist with the baptisms.  Before and after the baptisms, the kiddos got to spend a little time in the chilly waters.  Ezekiel is the kiddo closest to me, who was taking the picture, on the far left, in the photo below.
As soon as we got there, he disappeared with his friends...
but my little cutie was always within reach, playing in the sand.  She said the water was too cold, and I was okay with that ;).
After a late lunch, we came home to rest and enjoy the last few moments of our weekend.
I'll be back tomorrow and Wednesday with a little something papercrafty in nature.  Then, I'll be ending the week with a couple of DT assignments, as well as this month's Friday Faves.  I'll also be sneaking in a winner for my Bazzill Basics Giveaway.  Woohoo!  I hope you'll join me for all the fun :)!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a terrific work week, y'all!
