Bazzill Basics Giveaway

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Hey, y'all!  I'm so excited to be here writing this post!  Bazzill Basics has gifted me not only another package of 28 sheets of their NEW! Card Shoppe 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock to play with, but also a 6"x6" multipack of their new Beach House Collection, designed by the talented Janet Hopkins.  I'm such a lucky girl!  AND Emily gave me an extra one of each to give away to one of you, just because.  Woohoo!
But before I get to all the details of the giveaway, I'd love to share a trio of cards inspired by these yummy papers.  I'm turning this first one in to the Repetition Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  Enjoy!
I started this card by piecing together each of the four strips of patterned papers and stamping the red, polka dot strip, across its top edge, several times, in Jet Black ink, with the "Enjoy Life" sentiment.  Each phrase was then separated by a lone gemstone.
I then machine stitched, with bright-blue-threaded, straight stitches, around the outside edges of the created, patterned, paper piece and, with bright-blue threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the bottom two papers, before adhering it to the Peanut Cluster, cardstock, card face and wrapping it with a length of Riding Hood Red, taffeta ribbon, horizontally, just above the woodgrain, patterned paper.  The ribbon was then tied, in a bow, near the left edge of the card face and embellished with a kraft button, laced with a duet of hemp twine bows.
Finally, I stamped the bike image, in Jet Black ink, on a piece of Buttermints cardstock; hand cut it out; paper-pieced it with the rich, blue, patterned paper; adhered it, with foam tape, just to the right of the embellished bow; and dressed up the centers of its wheels, with a couple more clear gemstones, to complete the look.  I just LOVE the way it looks as though it's rolling along the boardwalk!
The second maintained the same color palette as the one above with the exception of a different neutral, but it has a completely different feel to it.  And I'm linking it up to the Focal Point Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  Check it out!
I started this card by framing a piece of the stripe, patterned paper with Wax Lips cardstock; machine stitching, with gray-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges; and dressing it, the length of its vertical center, with a trimmed strip of patterned paper, as well as a length of Basic Grey taffeta ribbon, which I tied, in a bow, near the top of the prepped piece and embellished with an ivory, paper blossom, before adhering it, with foam tape, to the Taffy, cardstock, card face.
A hand cut, from patterned paper, playing card tag was then ink distressed and tucked under the bow's bottom left edge, before dressing up the center of the card with a number of yummy trinkets, including buttons, laced with white string; both cardstock and fabric, Picadilly flowers; a red dahlia; a couple of fabric flowers (The larger of which makes a stunning focal point.); and a gemstone-studded, dimensional butterfly, as well as a red Sparklet.  They were all just hanging out, in my creative space, waiting for the perfect project, and I think they just found it ;).
A "hey you, hello, howdy", cardstock, sticker sentiment, popped up with foam tape and adhered in the bottom right corner of the design, completes the look.
Are you still with me?  I hope so, because I may have just saved the best for last.  This one is heading to the Movement Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.
I started this card by stamping the "I dropped a tear in the ocean.  The day you find it, is the day I will stop missing you." sentiment, in Jet Black ink, on a strip of vellum; adhered it near the bottom of an ocean-themed piece of patterned paper, which was framed with a piece of Banana Split cardstock...
and machine stitched, with bright-pink-threaded, straight stitches, across the bottom of the vellum, sentiment strip and, with bright-pink-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around the edges of the patterned paper piece.
A length of Crumb Cake, taffeta ribbon was then wrapped, horizontally, around the top of the vellum strip; tied, in a bow, near the right edge of the prepped piece; and embellished with a bright pink button, laced with a couple of hemp twine bows, before adhering the prepped piece, with foam tape, to the Candy Hearts, cardstock, card face.
I hand cut a couple of the larger elements from another piece of the same patterned paper; popped them up with foam tape; and dressed them up with a couple of die cut, from Buttermints cardstock, ocean-themed elements, both of which were ink distressed, and one of which was stamped, in Melon Mambo ink, with the starfish and glittered.
If you made it to this point, give yourselves a pat on the back!  Then, in honor of the beach theme of this giveaway, leave a comment below, telling me a memory from your favorite beach vacation.  Okay, I have to admit that I've got two more months, before we leave on vacation; and y'all, I desperately need one NOW.  So, make those memories good, because I'll be living vicariously through you ;).  I'll leave this giveaway open, to U.S. residents only (So sorry guys!  Shipping is a booger!), for a week from today and announce a winner on Wednesday, August 29, 2012.
Good luck, y'all!  And thanks so much for humbling me with a visit!  Big hugs!

Fabulous cards, I love how you mix up your elements! My favorite beach memories would be letting the kiddos drive on the deserted beach. They had so much fun. I have not been to the beach in many years, I miss it! Have fun on your vacation.

Oh Jinny ... your cards are fabulous ... I love them and I adore that beach paper pack!
My favourite beach holiday was when my son (about 12 at the time) and I and our German Shepherd got to take a short beach holiday ... times were hard ... but the memory of that holiday and how happy we were will always be in my heart ...

Hi Jinny! Love these papers and your cards, all of them! A favorite beach memory......we took the kids one year to Hilton Head for spring break and the weather was warm enough to go into the ocean.....I remember digging my toes into the sand under the water to find sand dollars.....what a thrill, as these were the first "live" ones we'd ever seen.
Thanks for the chance at these yummies!

I have so many favorite beach memories but I guess my favorite was when my parents took us to Virginia Beach when I was little and I got to sit on a huge sea turtle that was on the beach!

Beautiful cards Jinny - I love all the layering! One of my favorite beach memories was when my girls were small. It was the end of the day and we were ready to leave - the girls started dancing in the waves. As the waves receded, they would run towards the water, and then, as the waves lapped in, they would dance backwards trying not to get their feet wet. It was so much fun - I keep a picture of that day next to my bed.

Fabulous cards, Jinny, love that paper! Your style is so unique and your designs so well thought out. I love all three. I have so many memories of vacations to the beach as we went almost every August for my mom and dad's anniversary. My dad would drive us further down the beach than was necessary so we could find good shells where no one else had been. Well one day clouds and storms were coming in and we had to turn around and go back. The shore had seemingly disappeared and we got stuck in the sand as the water was coming in. My dad stripped down to his boxers as the rain beat down and dug us out...and of course that was a long time ago, so we were alright! and we always went back and had such fun. Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday and I hear you as needing a vacation!

Actually my FAVORITE Beach Memory is from the FIRST time I ever saw the Ocean!! I was 13 and my baby sister was only 3 months old and we went to San Francisco with my mom to go to our cousins HS Graduation!! My mom was SO BRAVE taking all 5 of us 13,12,9,8 &3months old all by herself on a vacation!! We spent a day at the beach and we had a BLAST looking for star fish and sea shells, but little did we know that the nice breeze would give us MAJOR wind burn and the next couple of days were spent in pain!! Never again have I remembered being so wind burnt and I will NEVER FORGET our first time at the Beach/Ocean!! THANKS for the chance to win and have a FABULOUS WEEK!! =)

We are leaving for Myrtle Beach Friday!!!! Can't wait to hear the ocean. I'm from the Midwest too, so nothing is better than walking the shoreline and looking for shells. Have you ever read "A Gift From the Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindburgh - wonderful writing and reflections on being a woman/mother/wife. Buy it for your vacation to read. Thanks for the wonderful prizes that would make an awesome mini album!

Hello, Jinny! Aren't you lucky, playing with the new Bazzill cardstock and papers! Glad we get a chance to win, too. :) BTW, your creations are all gorgeous, and you go girl, with your Moxie Fab challenges!!

A memory from a favorite vacation: okay, it's not a happy memory, but unforgettable. Earlier this month we went to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for some beach time and to visit with in laws. We did get to do some dolphin watching and jet skiing, but the unhappy parts were that we only had two sunny days, and our car died. We had to donate it to a charity and leave it down there!! Had to borrow a car to drive home in :( and buy something new when we got back home.

These are ALL GORGEOUS Jinny!!! I am LOVING the cluster of flowers on the second one!!! My fave beach vacay was this past March when we got to take Brookie to see the ocean for the first time!!! Just the happiness on her face made it all worth it!!!

How did you get all this done? And each one a work of art with amazing detail! I think Bazzill is the lucky one for getting you to design with their product! Beautifully done - you make me want to buy this paper like yesterday! If I have to pic a fave it would be the beach one - love the quote and it's got me day dreaming of good times and great places!

Your style is mesmerizing! Love all the layers of interest.
My favorite beach vacation memory was the first time our family drove from Minneapolis to California to visit relatives. My brothers and I were grade school age and I remember when we went to the ocean, we had the best time running into at the incoming waves and running back out again before we got knocked over. And of course the smell and taste of the salt water has stayed with me ever since.

Wowie Jinny! you have been a Busy Busy Crafting Lady! Love all three of your fabulous creations! they are all so Wonderful! 8-) One of my most favorite Beach vacation memories.. Funny it's a favorite now but it happened when I was much younger growing up, and likely did not appreciate it at the time,.. We used to go to Carmel, CA every year for my Mom's Birthday and spend a week, relaxing in the quite tranquil ambiance of Carmel by the sea, My Mom would always make a big pot of her Chiie and we would sit by the fire in the evenings working on jig-saw puzzles and listening to the waves.. Would love to be there right now! lol 8-)

Hugs
Shannon

I love all the vivid vibrant colors on these cards. They're all so beautiful and eye catching. That flower on the center card is just gorgeous. Perfect focal point.
Fave beach memory huh---has to be my hubby and I on the beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico picking up sea glass, laughing and soaking up the sun. Sweet beginnings to a marriage that's been blessed for almost 27 years. Thanks for making me remember Jinny. :-) Hugs!

Hmm favorite beach memory. Year before last we spent a week at a beach house in Atlantic Beach, NC. We had the best time with the kids: swimming, picking up shells, sitting on the balcony at night. It was a vacation I will always remember. :o)

Gorgeous cards! Love them all, though the ocean one is brillant-love the sentiment too so sweet!

Taking my Sophie to the beach for the first time is my absolute favorite beach memory. Watching her squish the sand between her toes and giggle at the water when it tickle her legs was awesome! Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway!

Your cards are amazing, I love your style! Lucky you to be playing with the new Bazzill.
My favorite beach memory is when we went to Maui. I snorkled for the first time, amazing. The humpback whales were there giving birth and it was a spectacular site to watch as they were breeching. We went out on a boat trip and a huge whale breeched right next to the boat!

WOW! First time ever on your blog. LOVE IT!!
I guess my favorite beach vacation memory would not really be a vacation at all. In the early 70's, my dad was in the military and we were stationed in Puerto Rico. I was in my teens and loved going to the beach frequently. There was even one on the base, plus gorgeous water all around us.

My favorite beach memories are MANY! One that is at the top of my list is the last vacation we took as a family to Ocean Shores, Wa. We flew kites on the beach, hunted for shells to look at and watched the waves and wildlife for hours. So fun to see our son Tim enjoying the grandness of the ocean!
