MSS Aug./Sept. Release: Day 2

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Note:  If you've come here looking for my Paper Sweeties: Pre-Release post, please scroll down.

Welcome back for Day 2 of Market Street Stamps' August/ September Release!  We've got three more stamp sets to show off today, including Baby Basics and Nuts About Nature, illustrated by the illustrious Julie Day, and Growth, which was once again designed by our very own Stephanie Washburn.  The first card I have to share, with you all, not only uses the first of the trio above, but I also couldn't resist pulling in that yummy ABC Background from yesterday.  Enjoy!

I started this card by stamping the ABC Background, in Barely Banana ink, on a piece of ink distressed, Barely Banana cardstock and the "Congratulations" sentiment, in Basic Black ink, vertically, in its bottom left corner.

I then adhered it to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face and machine stitched, with white-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around its outside edges...

before wrapping it, vertically, just to the right of the sentiment, with a Bashful Blue, taffeta ribbon, which I tied, in a bow, near the top of the card face and embellished with a soft yellow, button blossom, laced with a couple of hemp twine bows.

Each darling, little image, including the "Sweet baby BOY" phrase, was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, on their individual, die cut, white, cardstock, pinking squares; colored in with colored pencils and minerals spirits and/or paper-pieced together; and adhered, in their grid layout, with foam tape.  A few of the paper-pieced items were even popped up further, with foam tape, to complete the look.

Got time for one more?  Here's a card, inspired by Jennifer McGuire, using Growth.
I started this card by clear embossing the cattails across the bottom of a piece of watercolor paper and using Wild Honey, Barn Door, Dusty Concord, and Faded Jeans Distress Inks to achieve the sunset background.  Once it was dry, I rounded the top corners; inked the edges in Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, just to soften them; framed it with a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, which, too, had its top corners rounded; and adhered a strip of vellum, which I had stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "Praying for you in your time of need" sentiment, across the top of the design.
I then machine stitched, with white-threaded, straight stitches, around the outside edges of the prepped piece, before wrapping the bottom of it with a length of denim ribbon, which I tied, in a bow, near the left edge of the prepped piece, and adhering it, with foam tape, to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face, to complete the look.
That's all, for today, folks!  But if you can believe it, we've still got three more stamp sets to show off.
I'll be back, at the same time and place, tomorrow, to do just that.  Until then, please be sure to stop by the Market Street Stamps Blog, as well as the rest of the girls' blogs to see all kinds of creative and inspirational peeks.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a blessed day!
