Sketch It Out & Tuesday Trigger: Autumn Awaits

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Good morning!  I cannot tell you how thankful I am that today is Tuesday.  Sigh.  Monday got us off to a really rough start to the week but ended with a relaxing, refreshing evening with friends.  And bonus!  I'm still alive to bring you all a card, which is not only inspired by a couple of challenges, but also by a sweet, blog friend who is going through a rough time right now.  This one's for you, Annette!  Here's to it being fall soon ;)!
I started this card by hand cutting a trio of pennants from white cardstock and stamping them, respectively, in Tangerine Tango, Night of Navy, and Daffodil Delight inks, with the knit backgrounds.  I created the ombre effect simply by not re-inking between stamping.  I then adhered them near the top right corner of a piece of yellow, floral, patterned paper and machine stitched, with navy-threaded, straight stitches, around its edges.
It was then framed with a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, after tucking and placing a quartet of die cut, white, cardstock clouds in amongst the pennants and trimming a couple of them flush with the edge of the patterned paper piece.
A length of orange ribbon was then wrapped, horizontally, around the top half of the prepped piece; tied, in a bow, near the left edge of the prepped piece; and embellished with a crystal button, laced with a duet of hemp twine bows.
Finally, I stamped the frame, in Night of Navy ink, on an ink distressed, die cut, white, cardstock label; filled it in with the stamped, in Jet Black ink, "Hang in there... sometimes, all you need is a fresh start." sentiment, as well as the stamped, in Barely Banana and Daffodil Delight inks, leaves; and adhered it, with foam tape, just to the right of the embellished bow.
Inspiration for this card came from Dawn's Sketch It Out Challenge at the Wplus9 Design Blog...
and the Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger: Autumn Awaits.  The colors were my obvious inspiration, but the leaves were drawn in from the title and the crisp, fall air that just wafts from this photograph.  Can you feel it?!
I'm also thrilled to share that this layout was named a Color Me Scrappy DT Fav...
and this card put me in the Top Three at The Ribbon Reel.  Thanks so much, ladies!  My cup runneth over!
And thanks so much, to you all, for stopping by!  Have an extra blessed Tuesday!
