9/11 Blog Hop

Monday, September 10, 2012

Today is a day of remembrance and a time to thank all of those who have served our country in the past, present, and future.  The words ‘thank you’ don't seem to be enough.  Many people have given so much of themselves to work tirelessly to preserve our freedom and protect our country.  Today, on 9/11, we take a moment to remember those who lost their lives that tragic day and the families they left behind.  We take another moment to honor all of the individuals who helped that day and who are serving, or have served, our country.  Today we remember.

In honor of all these individuals and their families, My Time Made Easy ™ LLC and Paper Sweeties has organized a Blog Hop with *NEW* products and projects to inspire you to create gifts for our troops or that special someone.
Let's take a look at the card, up close and personal, first.
I started this card by piecing together the red, white, and blue, stripe, patterned paper with the red, polka dot, patterned paper and polka dot, embossed, ivory cardstock, which had been stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the fitting "Thank You" sentiment.
I then adhered a cardstock, glitter, sticker pennant just along the bottom edge of the red, polka dot, patterned paper and machine stitched, with brown-threaded, straight stitches around the prepped piece's combined edges and, with brown-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the connections, before wrapping a length of hemp twine around the top of the pennant and tying it in a bow.
Jake was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on an ink distressed, die cut, scalloped oval; colored with colored pencils and mineral spirits; and dressed in full dress uniform, which was created in the same manner as Jake himself and hand cut out, before being adhered, with foam tape, in the center of the prepped piece, just to the left of the twine bow.
Finally, I stamped the banner, in Jet Black ink, across the top of the prepped piece and filled it in with hand cut, red, circle, glitter, paper pennants, whose centers were decked out with blue gemstones, before adhering the entire piece to the Soft Suede, cardstock, card face, with foam tape, to complete the look.
And how about that tank?  Let me just say that I NEED an electronic cutting machine ;), but I'm ever so grateful to Lauren for giving me the chance to play with one of her templates, and her directions were easy as pie to follow.  There are many things that I would do differently next time, but for my first time, I don't think it's too bad.  I just used lots of Soft Suede and Crumb Cake cardstock from Stampin' Up, as well as ivory, polka dot, embossed cardstock from Bazzill and office supply store brads, along with a little Tea Dye & Antique Linen ink.  I think it speaks for itself.
*NEW* at Paper Sweeties, in September and available for a ‘special pre-release’ on 9/11, is an adorable boy doll stamp named JakeJake measures approximately 3-½” tall and is the perfect companion for the Sweeties girl stamps, Abigail, Emma and Sophie.  Jake has several outfits available this month, one of which is the cutest soldier ‘dress’ uniform, complete with a medal of honor, hat, and six heartfelt sentiments.  Jake was designed at the request of a good friend, who is very involved with the Operation Write Home organization, because she has a brother serving overseas in the armed forces.  Each Sweeties stamp set retails for $10.  Paper Sweeties' full September release launches September 15, 2012.

*NEW* at My Time Made Easy ™ LLC is an amazing package collection called Made in the USA (Package $10).  As mentioned above, this collection was created in honor of those who have, or who are currently serving, our country and at the request of Lauren’s brother, Craig, who served many years in the U.S. Army.  He wanted a realistic version of the "real deal" to honor his time spent serving our country.  This package includes everything you need to create your own amazing gift package!  Contents in this collection are the Tough Tank Template, whose top rotates 360 degrees and comes off the tank, so you can package all sorts of gift items inside; a sheet of Camouflage Digital Paper; an additional three sheets of patterned paper in red polka dots, yellow stars, and blue stripes; and a Set of 31 Digital Images called Made in the USA, which includes a Military Forces tag that can be customized, a saluting soldier silhouette, a Dog Tag, circle flag tag, alphabet for you to create your own tag, as well as a "Made in the U.S.A." sentiment.

Tough Tank Pretty Packaging Template
