Paper Sweeties: Pre-Release

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Woohoo!  We're back with another line-up of darling outfits from the Paper Sweeties Boutique, as well as lots of fabulous, new Sweeties Sentiments.  And if you're a regular follower of either the Paper Sweeties Blog or my very own little corner of the web, you've already met our first Sweeties Friend, Jake.  In case you missed him, he was the object of our attention for the 9/11 Blog Hop, and I showcased him, for our Peek, on the 1st of the month.  I've also created a card, using him and another of his outfits, just for this release.  That'll be coming tomorrow, but for today, I've whipped up a layout, for you, using Abigail, paired with Giddyup and a touch of Pennant Party.  Enjoy!
I started this layout by using a template to cut circles, strategically, across the bottom of my woodgrain, base page.  I then anchored color-coordinating, patterned papers, behind those open circles, with white-threaded, zig-zag machine stitches, before embellishing them up with lots of little elements, including a wood blossom; chipboard flowers, which were painted, ink distressed, and glittered; buttons, laced with hemp twine; and homemade, little, fabric embellishments, dressed up with pearls.  I had 1" squares of those peach fabrics leftover from another project and pulled in a tutorial like The Ribbon Retreat's Fresh Flowers to get them done.
A vintage, yellow tag, laced with a hemp twine bow, backs the top left corner of my photograph, which was matted with Whisper White cardstock...
and a "THIS is true happiness", cardstock sticker grounds my "L'il Buckaroo" title.
Abigail was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, on white cardstock; colored in with colored pencils and mineral spirits; hand cut out; dressed with a cowgirl outfit, complete with a hat and boots, created in the same way as Abigail herself; and adhered, just to the bottom left of the picture, with foam tape.  A little, wooden "a", for Adina, rounds out the corner.
LOVE the way the stamped, in Jet Black ink, banner, which I filled in with raised and stamped, on aqua, striped, patterned paper, pennants, connects the sunken circles, keeps the eye moving throughout the design, and completes the look!
Further inspiration for this page came from  ScrapFIT's Warm-Up #31.  That's all, for today, folks!  But please be sure to stop by Paper Sweeties, as well as the rest of the designers blogs to see what fabulosities they've whipped up, just for your viewing pleasure.  Then, we'll all be back, at the same time and place, tomorrow, for another roundup of September previews.  Until then, thanks so much for stopping by, and have a fantastic Friday!
