Paper Sweeties: Release Party

Friday, September 14, 2012

Welcome back!  It's so good to have you all visiting, on this lovely Friday evening, for Paper Sweeties' big day; but before I get to all of that, I've got a couple little something-somethings to share with you all.
I started this card by piecing together the heart, patterned paper with a "Notes" journaling prompt, as well as the strip of cloud, patterned paper.  A stamped, in Jet Black ink, on an aqua, scalloped, patterned paper; filled in with the stamped, in Jet Black ink, "XOXO"; and hand cut out pennant rounds out the top corner of the design and preps the piece for the Barely Banana, cardstock, card face, as well as a white-threaded, zig-zag, machine-stitched frame.
The "Celebrate your day" sentiment was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, vertically, under the "Notes" and along the left side of the card face.
A length of scalloped lace was then anchored across the top of the cloud, patterned paper and topped with a length of Pool Party, seam binding ribbon, which was tied, in a bow, near the right edge of the card face and embellished with a yellow button, laced with hemp twine.
Abigail was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, on white cardstock; colored in with colored pencils and mineral spirits; hand cut out; dressed with a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on an orange, chevron, patterned paper, as well as Old Olive and Soft Suede cardstocks, pumpkin and hat; and anchored, between the embellished bow and the sentiment, with foam tape.  Her shoes were created in the same way as Abigail herself and glittered, before she was given a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on Crumb Cake cardstock, tag, which was hand cut out; ink distressed; filled in with the stamped, in Jet Black ink, "Party Time" phrase; and attached to Abigail with a little, white ribbon, tied in a bow.
The above cutie was created for my daughter, just because she's our little pumpkin, for her upcoming birthday; but I've got a card, that I made for my big kiddo, to share, with you all, today, too.  He struggles with arithmetic.  So, I thought he needed a bit of encouragement ;).
I started his card by framing a piece of green, number, patterned paper with a piece of Blue Ballet cardstock; machine stitching, with green-threaded, straight stitches, a double frame around its edges; and adhering it to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face.  I then anchored a paper domino, just below vertical center, and a painted, ink distressed, and glittered, chipboard heart, near the top of the prepped piece.  A stamped, in Jet Black ink, on vellum; filled in with the stamped, in Jet Black ink, "Hugs" phrase; and hand cut out heart was tucked between the top points of the star.
Jake was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a hand cut, from patterned paper, frame; colored in with colored pencils and mineral spirits; dressed with clothing that was created in the same way and hand cut out; and adhered, with foam tape, to the card face and just right of vertical center.
A bundle of hemp twine bows, which were tucked into the crevice of two, additional, star points, creates additional texture.
Finally, I stamped the "You're a Superstar!" sentiment, in Jet Black ink, on an ink distressed, kraft label, which was anchored, over Jake's feet, with orange, striped brads.
