SIT Blast From the Past #3

Welcome to Sketches in Thyme's final, September Blast From the Past #3!  I've got another example, for you all, back here; but here's where this sketch led me today, using this month's Jenni Bowlin Papercrafting Kit.
I started this layout by adhering the navy polka dot and aqua, ruler, patterned papers to the textured, Barely Banana, cardstock, base pages and machine stitching, with navy-threaded, straight stitches, around their edges and, with navy-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between their connection.  I then adhered a couple strips of navy chevron and multicolored, chevron, patterned papers, haphazardly, across the bottom of the previously stitched, patterned papers; trimmed the latter with soft green, framed, cardstock, sticker circles cut in half to create a scalloped edge; and anchored both with navy-threaded, zig-zag machine stitches.  A row of enamel dots...
round out the bottom of the design and prep my the page for pictures, which were framed with Whisper White cardstock.
The circular elements were created in the same way I did back here by clear embossing the images, through a stencil, on Whisper White cardstock; inking them up with Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks, once they had cooled; spritzing them with water to blend the colors; and hand cutting them out.  Their centers were embellished with orange buttons, laced with white string.  The two on the left side of the layout...
were further dressed up with a stamped, in Tangerine Tango ink, on a ledger, patterned paper and hand cut frame, which was anchored with navy-threaded, zig-zag, machine stitches and filled in with, Omaha, NE, July 23, 2009.
The right side of the layout...
received another of those embossed and ink distressed, stencil images, embellished in the same way as above, as well as a vintage, "Fly", silhouette card; an orange, "WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD", cardstock, sticker phrase...
a string tag, which I tied in a bow; and another frame, prepared in the same way as above and filled in with a little journaling, 3,000 ft. long walkway across the Missouri River.
The "FIRST STOP" title, which was created from soft green alphas, anchored with navy-threaded, straight, machine stitches, completes the look.
That's all, for today, folks!  But here's this week's sketch to help get you started.  I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
Don't forget to have your takes, on this week's Blast From the Past #3 and/or this month's Blast From the Past #1 and/or Blast From the Past #2, linked up, in the right hand column of the Sketches in Thyme Blog, by the close of the month on Sunday, September 30, 2012.  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a truly terrific Thursday!

What a wonderful layout Jinny! I'm in awe of all scrapbookers. I tried it and had a hard time with the big canvas. That's why I settled with cards instead. :)
