Welcome to Wplus9 Design's October/November Release Week, y'all!  I cannot tell you all how much I love, love, LOVE these weeks!  And to get that little package of goodies, each and every month, all over again, is literally just like Christmas!  Well, this month, Dawn has cooked up four, stamp sets, for you all, all boasting the Christmas theme, as well as dies to match and coordinate.  But the great thing is that they work so well, not only with one another and lots of past stamp sets, but also minus the seasonal theme.  LOVE the versatility!  And y'all, I totally mixed up what's supposed to be revealed and when.  So, without further adieu, let me just introduce you, today, to Folk Art Flurries and the Simple Snowflake and Seasonal Sentiments dies.  Enjoy!
I started this layout by clear embossing a variety of gorgeous, snowflake images on pieces of Whisper White cardstock.  And let me just say that this is literally the only snowflake stamp set you'll ever need!  It is packed to the brim with every different size under the sun, and I just love it to pieces!  I then inked over the snowflakes with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and around their edges with Tea Dye and Antique Linen Distress Inks, before spritzing it with Pearl Glimmer Mist to give it that yummy shimmer and shine, which I'm sure you probably can't see in these photographs.  Sigh.  Just know it's there ;).
They were then adhered, along with strips of woodgrain, patterned paper, to the text, patterned, paper, base pages; and all were anchored, along their outside edges, with black-threaded, zig-zag, machine stitches.  Their centers were trimmed with strips of Whisper White cardstock that had been stamped, in Riding Hood Red and Pool Party inks, with those scrumptious Fair Isle Backgrounds, that Dawn released, about this same time, last year.  It, too, was anchored with more black-threaded, straight, machine stitches, but this time they were straight.  Lengths of white lace trim their bottom edges...
and all the photographs were framed with Whisper White cardstock, before turning my attention to the right side of the page.
The center of this page boasts my heap of journaling, which reads, This was the only snow we got all winter that amounted to anything at all.  With the temperatures as warm as they were, though, I knew it would all be melted by the end of the day.  So, we threw caution to the wind, dropped our studies, donned the snow gear, and hit the slope in our backyard.  It was the first time Adina really enjoyed the snow, and she was so fun to watch.  Ezekiel was the best at teaching her everything she needed to know from where to start the sled to how to balance oneself for the best ride to the way to carry it the easiest right back up the hill.  And, of course, Summer had to get in on the action, too.  She even stole the sled right out from under Adina.  What a great day!  It was all written, in Basic Black ink, on a strip of Whisper White cardstock which had been stamped, in Pool Party ink, with both sets of lines from Classroom Backgrounds and ink distressed.  It also serves as the foundation for my "Snow Day" title, which was Cricut-cut from a red, plaid, patterned paper and anchored with staples.
The snowflakes, both big and small, were die cut from a glitter paper and popped off the surface of the page with foam tape.  The larger one was backed with a Whisper White, cardstock circle, which had been stamped, in Pool Party ink, with the medallion image and topped with a red button, laced with white string.
The button also was wrapped with a length of white string and had its ends embellished with two, stamped, in Riding Hood Red ink, on Whisper White cardstock, and hand cut out mittens, which were dressed up with a couple of white, string bows.
That turns our attention to a couple more details on the right side of the layout.
This side, too, received both a small and large snowflake, prepared in the same way as above, with the exception of swapping the mittens for a die cut and ink distressed, white, cardstock, "joy" subtitle.  It was also backed with a polka dot embossed and ink distressed, kraft, cardstock, tag die cut, which I laced with white string.
And it's left side got a sweet, little, red frame to house my February 13, 2012, date and complete the look.
That's all, for today, folks!  But I hope you'll join me for another day of delicious peeks tomorrow.  Until then, be sure to stop by the rest of this talented team's blogs to see what scrumptiousness they've cooked up, just for your viewing pleasure; and have a fantastic, work week!
