PDCC 3rd Anniversary Celebration

Friday, October 19, 2012

Howdy, y'all!  I'm just thrilled to be here, today, helping The Play Date Cafe celebrate three, amazing years, as a Design Team Alumni Guest!  The PDCC has always been a unique challenge for two reasons.  First of all, they encourage you, as a player, to interpret the colors as YOU see them.  And secondly, they welcome pretty much ANY type of project from cards to layouts, knit, crochet, sewing, mixed-media, and even cupcakes!  As you all know, it's been a busy week in my neck of the woods.  Matter of fact, as this post goes live, we're dozing in our hotel room, after rehearsing for a beautiful, October wedding and being stuffed, to the brim, with yummy BBQ.  So, for now, I've just put together a little card creation to help show off this week's Flame, Mulberry, and Grape color story.  (The latter of which is another valid reason that a card got my full attention with this combination.  I mean, y'all know how much I love purple ;).  Tee hee!)  Enjoy!
I started this card by stamping the house image, in Jet Black ink, in the bottom center of a piece of White cardstock; coloring it in with colored pencils and mineral spirits; and later adding a touch of glitter to the windows.
I then trimmed its top edge with a die cut strip of White cardstock, as well as a strip of blue, decor, patterned paper, which was stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "Thank You For Your Hospitality" sentiment...
framed it with a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock; and machine stitched, with white-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around the prepped piece's combined edges.
The house was then flanked with two stamped, in Soft Suede ink, tree trunks, topped with buttons, laced with hemp twine.  A length of red, saddlestitch ribbon was wrapped, around the prepped piece, between the two, prepped cardstocks and tied, in a bow, near its left edge, before adhering the entire thing, with foam tape, to the Kraft, cardstock, card face to complete the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from the Tuesday Trigger: Val de Victorian in the Moxie Fab World.
Now, it's your turn!  Here's your 3rd Anniversary Celebration Challenge color story to get you started.
From October 18th through the 22nd, you can enjoy inspiration from other returning design team members, as well as their current team, prizes from a variety of sponsors, and additional giveaways for becoming a follower of the challenge and displaying their brand new badges!
I hope you will join me in congratulating the PDCC by playing along and sharing your support by saying hello, when you pay a visit.  It's going to be an exciting celebration!  Don't forget that you have until the close of the day EST, this coming Tuesday, October 23, 2012 to link up your takes over at the challenge link above.  Happy stamping, y'all!  And thanks so much for stopping by!  Hugs!
