MFW: Alphabet Stickers & ScrapFIT Workout #80

Monday, November 19, 2012

I'm back, as promised in my Family Update post, with a card for my brother-in-law's upcoming birthday.  He doesn't visit my blog, so I'm pretty sure it'll stay a secret until the actual day ;).  And I've got a couple of challenge deadlines looming.  So, here goes.
I started this card by trimming the right side of a piece of woodgrain, patterned paper with a strip of green, houndstooth; adhered it to the Kraft, cardstock, card face; and machine stitched, with brown-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around its edges and between its connection.  A portion of a journaling card was then adhered, flush with the right side of the combined patterned papers and anchored with more, brown-threaded, zig-zag, machine stitching.  A label was die-cut from Old Olive cardstock; dry embossed with the chevron design; adhered, just right of vertical center, with foam tape; and topped with a stamped, in Old Olive ink, with the stripe background, as well as, in Chocolate Chip ink, with the partial, "YOU" sentiment, tag, which had been set with a pewter Jumbo eyelet, laced with both an Old Olive, grosgrain, ribbon bow and a length of string...
and embellished with a die cut from Oatmeal cardstock and ink distressed branch.
The completed, "happy birthday 2" sentiment was created from kraft, mini alphas; green, foam Thickers; and a woodgrain, chipboard Alphabean.
I then adhered a date, label sticker, personalized with my brother-in-law's birthday, and a stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, on an Oatmeal, cardstock die cut, tie, which was pierced with a pewter brad, overhanging the bottom left corner of the sentiment tag.
Inspiration for this card came from the Alphabet Stickers Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and ScrapFIT's Workout #80: Fall Color Inspiration.
That's all, for today, folks!  Thanks so much for popping in, and have a super, blessed, abbreviated (for those of you who live in the United States), work week!
