MSS: Celebrate the Season

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

I have a little project featured over at the Market Street Stamps Blog today, and I'd just love to share it with you all.  I whipped it up using a trio of stamp sets from this month's Christmas Release.  Check it out!
I started this layout by adhering a strip of vintage, text, patterned paper, horizontally, near the center of the woodgrain, base page; stamping the ornament strings, in Jet Black ink, across its bottom edge; and topping the strings with both a strip of white, embossed, patterned paper, which had been punched across its top edge, and a strip of pink, patterned paper, which was anchored, across its top and bottom edges, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then matted my photo grid with Whisper White cardstock; adhered it near the right edge of the previously stitched, patterned, paper strips; grounded the top right photograph with a strip of vellum, which had been stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "Celebrate the season" title...
secured them with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches; and anchored them with a length of red, polka dot ribbon, tied in a bow and embellished with a couple of stamped, in Jet Black ink, on Basic Grey cardstock, jingle bells, which were hand cut out and glittered, as well as a white embossed, on vellum, ribbon.
A pink, journaling card was tucked under the bottom left side of the photo grid and serves as the home for my November 29, 2008, date.
Then, came the fun part.  The ornaments were stamped on a variety of color-coordinating, patterned papers; hand cut out; and adhered, some with foam tape, hanging from the previously stamped strings.  Their tops were stamped, in Jet Black ink, on White cardstock, hand cut out, adhered in their respective locations, and glittered.
A trio of them were further dressed up with stamped, in Jet Black ink, on White cardstock; colored, with colored pencils and mineral spirits; and hand cut out holly.  The berries also received a touch of Crystal Effects for shine and to complete the look.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Let's Get Sketchy's November Week 1 Challenge.
That's all, for now, folks!  It'll be a little quiet, around here, tomorrow; but I'll be back, on Friday, with lots of Friday Faves, as well as two creations to share.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Be blessed!
