MSS Block Party

Friday, December 7, 2012

Y'all ready for Market Street Stamps' December Block Party?  Well, it's here!  And we're ready to see what you've got up your sleeves.  Here's what I've whipped up for your viewing pleasure.
I started this card by white embossing the Flurries background on a piece of ivory, text, patterned paper; inking over it with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks, just to help the snowflakes stand out a bit more; trimming the prepped piece, across its top edge, with a strip of black, stitched, patterned paper and, across its bottom edge, with both a stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the Candy Stripe background, strip of Very Vanilla cardstock and a punched, across its top edge, strip of White cardstock; adhering it to the Riding Hood Red, cardstock, card face; and machine stitching, with black-threaded, zig-zag stitches between the embossed piece and its top patterned paper edge, as well as between the bottom patterned paper edge and the punched, cardstock strip.
I then stamped the snowman, in White ink, on a hand cut, from Kraft cardstock, and ink distressed tag; penned over some of the stamping with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker; and dressed him up with a stamped, in Jet Black & Riding Hood Red inks, on White cardstock, and hand cut hat, carrot nose, and scarf.  The carrot nose was then colored in with an orange colored pencil and mineral spirits, and the "Life is Beautiful" sentiment was stamped, in Jet Black ink, near the bottom of the tag, amidst the snow-covered hills, before the tag itself was adhered, with foam tape, in the bottom left corner of the card face.
The top of the tag then had a hole, which was reinforced with a simple white label, punched in it and was dressed up with a length of Baker's Twine, as well as a red, polka dot ribbon, tied in a bow.
A "DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG" label was tucked under the right side of the tag, and a die cut, from White cardstock, snowflake, which I also glittered, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from The Paper Players' Challenge #124: Ann's Snowmen Theme Challenge and City Crafter Challenge Blog's Week #138: Photo Inspiration, provided by my dear friend Ros.
Now, it's your turn!  Just create any new project, using MSS stamps.  It can be anything (cards, layouts, altered items, etc.).  Be creative, and have FUN!  Then, link up your project, at the Market Street Stamps Blog, by Sunday, December 9, 2012, at 11:59 pm CST.  One randomly selected participant will win an awesome prize package full of yummy stamps and accessories!  And one show stoppin' papercrafter will be asked to join MSS, as a Guest Designer, for the month of January.
Now, get creating, y'all, and have an absolutely terrific weekend!
