SIT #97

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Happy Thursday, y'all!  Only five more days 'til Christmas!  I hope you have all your shopping done.  I've been done for awhile, but all my packages are still waiting to be dressed up and hand delivered.  So, now that we're done with school until after New Year's, my afternoon is going to consist of doing just that.  But until then, I've got a beautiful page, to share with you all, for Sketches in Thyme's final challenge of 2012.
I started this page by anchoring the aqua and floral, patterned papers, across both sides of the Chocolate Chip, cardstock, base pages, with brown-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then secured a couple more patterned papers, over the existing ones, with brown-threaded, zig-zag, machine stitches.
My pics were then framed with Whisper White cardstock, adhered across both pages, and dressed up with a trio of doilies here and there.  I then anchored the "A Grandmother's Love" title, across the top of the layout, with brown-threaded, straight, machine stitches...
before turning my attention to the left side of the page.
A "FAMILY" stencil card was backed with a strip of color-coordinating, striped, patterned paper and secured with a strip of gold, polka dot, Washi Tape.  I then tucked a cardstock, sticker ticket, as well as a couple pieces of patterned paper, one of which had its right side spiral punched, under its edges and secured a kraft, polka dot envelope, across its bottom, with a simple, paper clip.  A kraft, typography number; smattering of aqua pearls; burlap rose, flanked by a hemp twine bow, as well as a couple of suede leaves, anchored with more machine stitches; and a "Brand New", cardstock sticker...
turn our attention to the right side of the page.
More pearls; "Genuine Awesome"...
and "PRICELESS", cardstock stickers, the latter of which was embellished with another hemp twine bow; and a little journaling, which reads, Nov. 1, 2008, Grandma was the official photographer for your birth and one of the very first people to get to hold you.  She was just as excited to meet you as we were... Well, almost :).  She mostly just watched, but her prayers were felt each and every minute; and her tears, when she held you that first time, told how she really felt without saying anything at all, are all that's needed to complete the look.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Scrap Friends' Colour Palette #8.
And here's your Challenge #97 sketch.
Remember to have your takes, on Challenge #95, Challenge #96, and/or this week's Challenge #97, linked up, in the right hand column of the Sketches in Thyme Blog, by the close of the month.  Then, be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of this ever-so-talented team has been inspired.  Can't wait to see what goodness you all will cook up in 2013.  And if you're not a regular follower of my blog, have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!  Hugs!
