Wplus9 Dec./Jan. Release: Day 2

Saturday, December 1, 2012

Welcome back to Day 2 of Wplus9 Design's December/January Release!  We've got two more stamps sets, including Cupid's Arrow and Banner Love, as well as two additional dies, including Cupid's Arrow and Clear Cut Stackers: Hearts to share, with you all, today.  And I've whipped up, not one, but two projects to show a little more of their true potential.  Enjoy!
I'm not one to jump on board with each new trend that comes my way, but one trend that has me diving into it head first is chalkboard art.  LOVE it!  And Betsy Veldman has a fantastic tutorial for the technique I used on today's card here.  I started this card by laying out each individual image on a piece of Black cardstock.  With the exception of the heart banner, which comes from Banner Love, the rest of the images are part of the Cupid's Arrow stamp set.  I then picked them all up, at one time, on one large block.  I'm telling you, this saves so much time!  I then white embossed them and stamped over them, in White ink, to create the shadowing.  A little smudging of the White ink drives the whole chalkboard look home.
My prepped piece was then framed with Lake House cardstock; machine stitched, around its edges, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches...
and wrapped with a length of seam binding ribbon, which I tied in a dressy bow and embellished with a turquoise, paper blossom, a mini clothespin, and a couple of hemp twine bows, before being adhered, with foam tape, to the Kraft, cardstock, card face, to complete the look.
Moving right along, I've got to show you a little of Clear Cut Stackers: Hearts can do.  I'm sure you all can come up with about a million and one things to make from heart dies, but I've chosen one, particular project, which showcases all four sizes of hearts that you'll get with this die set, to share today.

I started this project by die cutting four of each size heart for each length of Baker's Twine.  I then backed them together, from largest on top to smallest on the bottom, with the twine running down their combined centers and topped each side of the center of the largest with the smallest, die cut, from Pink Pirouette, Lake House, and Cupid's Arrow cardstocks (The latter two cardstocks were recently added to the Wplus9 Design Online Store.), hearts, which were then glittered.
The medium-sized hearts had their centers trimmed with aqua, pink, and red buttons, and the smallest hearts were left bare.
I then stamped two of each cupid, in Pool Party, Pretty in Pink, and Riding Hood Red inks, on White, cardstock die cuts; adhered them, back to back, with the string sealed between them; glitter them; and finished off the mobiles with vintage, alterable, crystal trinkets.
I made them to hang from a chandelier, but they also look super cute hanging in a window.

If you haven't done so already, please don't forget to run along to the rest of the team's blogs to see what they have for you to feast your eyes upon today.  Then, we've got one more day of projects, featuring two additional stamp sets and one more die, coming your way tomorrow, before the big reveal.  And I know that I usually don't showcase a project on reveal day, but I just couldn't stop playing.  So, I've got one, for you, this month ;).  Until then, thanks for peeking in, and have a truly remarkable day!
