Elle's PL Sketch & ColourQ #170

Monday, January 7, 2013

Happy Monday, y'all!  I hope your weekends were full and satisfying.  I got much of that rest and relaxation that I was looking for, at least as much as can be achieved in a house full of busyness.  However, I still don't feel prepared for all that our coming week has planned.  Nevertheless, I'm jumping in headfirst and crossing my fingers that I survive ;).  But before it all begins, I've got a layout, for you all, to start the week out right.
I started this layout by creating the grid design, on the notebook, patterned, paper, base page, with color-coordinating, patterned papers, photographs, and a journaling card, which I used to journal, This was the toughest babysitting job I've EVER had!  Camaro is such a sweetheart and loves Ezekiel to bits, but she wouldn't communicate with us, rest (And she was so, so tired.), or eat.  I felt like she was going to leave scarred for life and was so grateful for her beautiful smile to return, when her mom and dad came back.  A pink, crochet flower, stuck with a white, trinket pin and pierced with a heart, epoxy brad, as well as a "FRIENDS RESTAURANT" vintage tab, round out the card's bottom right corner.
Under the flower and bottom right photograph, which was wrapped, three times, with a length of white string, tied in a bow, I tucked a red, chevron bag and filled part of the space between it and the bottom left photograph with a "TODAY" tag, as well as a "date:" tag, stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "OCT 04 2009" date.
The top of the grid was trimmed with a hand cut strip of red, plaid, patterned paper; and its far left corner filled in with a "a few things you should know..." journaling card, which was anchored with a couple of staples and filled in with, Camaro only naps @ home, will do just about anything for choc. milk, and has only ever had one sitter... her grandma.
The photo below the card was trimmed with a "favorite SNAPSHOTS" tag, which was attached to it with a simple paper clip, and a trio of die cut, from Real Red, Pretty in Pink, and White cardstocks, and glittered arrows.
Before continuing to dress up the rest of the photos, I trimmed the top left edge of the layout with a couple of patterned papers, one of which was punched across its bottom edge, as well as a length of red, stripe Washi Tape, and a tag cut into a pennant shape.
I then anchored much of the design with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches to mimic the faux stitching on the tags and journaling bits; dressed up the space above the large, journaling card with a partial, white, paper doily; and filled the top of the layout with a trio of color-coordinating buttons, laced with white string.
The top left photo was further embellished with a vellum Polaroid, anchored with a couple of staples...
and finally, the bottom left photograph was dressed up with a white-embossed, on vellum, and hand cut banner, as well as a "we are oh so sweet together" tag, which also serves as my title.
Inspiration for this layout came from Elle's Studio's Project Life Sketch...
and ColourQ's Challenge #170, where we got to pick from one of the design team's favorite palettes of 2012.  I chose LeAnne and Noelle's.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a fabulous start to your work week!
