MFW: Speech Bubble Challenge & ColourQ #179

Monday, March 11, 2013

Happy Monday, y'all!  I hope you had a great weekend!  I may have spoken a little too soon about my littlest being back to her healthy, happy self.  Her fever did subside, but just as soon as it did, something else came up.  I won't gross you out with the details.  About that same time, Ezekiel came down with a low-grade fever and nasty cough.  Sigh.  So, I was home all weekend, taking care of my sick kiddos.  My hubby was in and out between meetings, though, so we weren't all alone.  Ezekiel even missed his Upward Basketball Award Ceremony.  So sad!  I was thinking that might have given him a better ending to the season than he had back here, but it just wasn't in the cards.  Anyway, I think Adina is finally in the clear, but poor Ezekiel is just trying to stay above water.  So, if you think about us, we'd so appreciate your prayers.  Now, how about a little card?
I started this card by framing a piece of yellow, text, patterned paper with a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock, as well as white-threaded, zig-zag, machine stitches.  I then wrapped it with a length of Cherry Cobbler, seam binding ribbon, tied, in a bow, near the left edge of the prepped piece and embellished with a yellow, fringed, ribbon bow, as well as a coral button, laced with a hemp twine bow, before adhering it, with foam tape, to the White, cardstock, card face.
The striped frame, as well as the heart waterspout, which was later glittered, was stamped, in Cherry Cobbler ink, on a piece of Kraft cardstock.  It was then die-cut out, polka dot embossed, ink distressed, and adhered, with foam tape, just to the right of the embellished bow.  The whale was stamped, in Calypso Coral ink, on a White, cardstock die cut and adhered, with foam tape, in the bottom center of the die-cut frame, just below the waterspout.
In the top half of the frame, I layered a double heart bubble, which was cut, from textured, white cardstock, with my Cameo; chipboard bubble, stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "I whale-y like you!" sentiment and ink distressed; and a stamped, in Daffodil Delight ink, on White cardstock, heart bubble, which I hand cut out and glittered.
Inspiration for this card came form the Speech Bubble Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and ColourQ's Challenge #179.
I'm off to get lunch for my kiddos.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a terrific work week!

So sorry to hear you've all been sick, Jinny. :( We've had our share of this stuff (and the stomach bug - ICK)in the last several weeks, and many days of school have been missed.

Your card is so sweet! I also love the 'snow princess' layout in the post above this. Adina is SO photogenic! Modeling? Hmm? Just sayin'!
