MFW: Wonder of Watercolor & TSTR #164

Friday, May 3, 2013

Happy Friday, folks!  We don't have anything in particular planned for this weekend.  We're just waiting for the snow (Yes, I said snow.) to stop and the springlike temperatures to, once again, grace us with their presence.  Fortunately, it's not sticking too much, since it's a couple degrees above freezing, which also means that those beautiful blossoms just might make it.  Anyway, enough about the weather.  Let's get to the real reason for this post.  I have a lot of sisters in my family, which means lots of Mother's Day cards to create, so I turned to the The Wonder of Watercolor Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and The Shabby Tea Room's Week #164: Beautiful Spring to help me do just that.
Here's how I was inspired.
I started this card by inking up the lilac stems, which are photographing much darker than they really are (In reality, they match that yummy, seam binding ribbon perfectly.), in Wisteria Wonder, Rich Razzleberry, and Garden Green inks; spritzing over them with water; and stamping them, on ivory, watercolor paper, in their respective locations.  I then spritzed over them with Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip inks...
before trimming the piece's right side with a strip of aqua, diamond, patterned paper, which I had stamped, vertically and in Chocolate Chip ink, with the "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment.  A little ink distressing and ivory-threaded, straight, machine stitches frame the entire piece; and a couple of extra, stitched corners prep the piece for texture.
A strip of white lace was adhered just to the left of the patterned paper and trimmed, down its right side, with a length of seam binding ribbon, which was tied in a dressy bow and embellished with a hemp twine bow as well as an ivory, resin blossom.
After adhering the prepped piece, with foam tape, to the Kraft, cardstock, card face, the jar was embossed, with Pool Party embossing powder, on vellum; hand cut out; adhered over the water-colored stems; and dressed up with a stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and hand cut out label, which was filled in with the stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, month of "May".
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend, friends!  Hugs!
