SIT #112

It's time for Sketches in Thyme's two-pager, y'all!  Normally, this would get me ever so excited, but I was a little overwhelmed with this one.  So, I decided to turn it into one and capture a little inspiration drawn from the talented Lisa Dickinson.  The background stamp you'll see below came in one of my Jenni Bowlin kits way back when, and she used it, in the manner I have below, to create a background grid for her pics.  Here's my take.
I started this layout by stamping the polka dot background, in Perfect Plum, Rose Red, and Pretty in Pink inks, on a Whisper White, cardstock, base page.  I then matted my photos with the same cardstock, adhered them in their respective squares, and filled in the rest with lots of precious, girly mementos.  Beginning in the top left corner and moving to the right across each row, I tucked a green, vellum, journaling pocket, whose contents had been laced with a hemp twine bow and read, This was your very 1st haircut.  You kept telling me to take off 5 gallons.  Fortunately, I didn't listen; b/c the tiny bit that I did trim off put you in tears.  You got over it pretty quickly, though, and even whispered to Ezekiel, while I was snipping away, that it didn't hurt :), behind the photo and a "Date:" Sept. 15, '12, cardstock sticker over its top left corner.
I then created my "5 gallons please" title from a chipboard number, which I painted with White, acrylic paint, ink distressed, and glittered; green, foam Thickers; and a Cameo-cut, from Perfect Plum cardstock, "please".
A canvas butterfly was topped with a chipboard, silhouette element, which I had dressed up with a Perfect Plum, taffeta ribbon bow, and back with a bright pink and light pink, striped pennant.
A green, "sweet baby girl", cardstock, sticker square, which I flanked with a "girl" sticker rounds out the center of the design.
The wax envelope, in the last square of the middle row, holds a clipping of Adina's locks.  It was backed with a green, floral tag, laced with hemp twine, as well as a heavy, white, cardstock doily, and topped with a crochet flower, which was flanked with a die-cut, felt leaf and topped with a purple button, laced with hemp twine, as well as a "document this moment" cardstock sticker.
A green, scalloped, cardstock, sticker frame, topped with a chipboard "laugh", which I painted with White, acrylic paint, ink distressed, and glittered, as well as an "ENJOY THE JOURNEY" epoxy brad, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Scrap Your Story's Challenge #12: Stamping and ScrapFriends' Colour Palette Challenge #13.
And here's this month's final Challenge #112 sketch to get you started.
Don't forget that you have until the close of the month, on Friday, May 31, 2013, to link up your takes in the right hand column of the Sketches in Thyme Blog, to be in the running to be named one of our Top 3 and have the opportunity to guest design with us during the month of July.  AND just as a reminder, you have until 8 pm PST tonight to comment on my TCM: Chalkboard Birthday Blog Hop post for your chance to win The Craft's Meow's ENTIRE May Release.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful day!  Hugs!

What a totally BRILL story! I remember writing a little book about hair cuts not hurting...I mean, we tell kids scissors 'bite' & to 'be careful'...then expect them to SIT STILL & not be afraid when we use them on their head????!!!!!!!!!
