CQC #196

So, today, I'd love to share a card that was made for this handsome guy of mine.
Sunday is his tenth birthday.  Sigh.  Where does the time go?  But today, we're hosting lots of family members and celebrating with a trip to Kauffman Stadium for an evening Royals game and fireworks.  I'm sure there'll be plenty of pics to share next week.  Until then, I've got lots to do, especially before they all arrive.  So, let's jump right in.  We're pretty big fans of Skippyjon Jones, so I'm pretty sure this is going to be a big hit ;).
I started this card by piecing a strip of navy, polka dot, patterned paper above a piece of navy and red, stripe, patterned paper and fit a slightly smaller piece of vellum into their combined center.  The vellum piece was then anchored, with navy-threaded, straight, machine stitches, on all but its top edge; stuffed with lots of yellow, red, and silver sequins, as well as a few die-cut, from a polka dot, embossed, kraft cardstock, stars; and stitched closed.
I then wrapped a length of red, gingham ribbon, horizontally, around the prepped piece, between the connection of the two patterned papers; tied it, in a bow, near its right edge; and embellished it with a mustard, ribbon bow, as well as a navy button, laced with a white chord bow.
After it was adhered, with foam tape, to the Crumb Cake, cardstock, card face, I stamped the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!" sentiment, as well as the little, dog image, in Jet Black ink, on a white envelope; colored in the dog with colored pencils and mineral spirits; and adhered the bag, in the center of the card face, just to the left of the embellished bow.
Inspiration for this card came from ColourQ's Challenge #196.
I'm also joining in Stacey's Birthday Linky Party.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by!  Be blessed, friends!
