SIT #116

Thursday, July 4, 2013

Well, good morning.  I'm here to share a page, perfectly fit for just such a special day as today, using Sketches in Thyme's first sketch of the month.  Enjoy!
I started this page by rubbing Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, through a star template, onto the whitewashed, woodgrain, base page.  I then stamped the paint splatters in Real Red ink and the tiny stars in Night of Navy ink, before anchoring a strip of aqua, chevron, patterned paper, near horizontal center, with navy-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  A few hand cut, from patterned paper, "fireworks" were then scattered about and tucked in behind both a piece of red, polka dot, patterned paper and a sheet of vellum, which were, in turn, anchored with more navy-threaded, straight stitches, and a couple were even popped up with foam tape.
A trio of red, cardstock, sticker stars, as well as a handful of red, sequin stars; quartet of aqua, enamel dots; and bit of patriotic flair, complete the confetti celebration...
and prep the page for the "little PATRIOTS" title, which was created from gray Alphabeans and red, shadow alphas and grounded with a Cameo-cut, Whisper White, cardstock "always", which I also dressed up with a touch of glitter.
My photos were then matted with Whisper White cardstock and adhered, haphazardly, in their respective locations.  The one farthest to the left, of my big guy, was wrapped, three times, with a length of Baker's Twine, tied in a bow, and popped up with foam tape.
I then tucked an aqua, lace, transparency frame, as well as a red, chevron envelope into and under their bottom right sides, and topped them with a red and blue journaling label, which I used to journal, All dressed up in your red, white, and blues and ready for a party.  4th of July 2012.
Further inspiration for this layout came from My Mind's Eye's Red, White, & Blue July Challenge and Lasting Memories' Challenge #146: Special Celebration.  And here's this week's Challenge #116 sketch to get started.
You have until the close of the month, on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, to link up your takes, in the right hand column of the Sketches in Thyme Blog, in order to be in the running to be named one of our Top 3 and have the opportunity to guest design with us during the month of September.  Thanks so much much for stopping by!  Please be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see all the amazing creations the rest of Team A has whipped up, just for your viewing pleasure.  And to all my U.S. friends, have a safe and happy Independence Day!  Hugs!
