SIT #118

Note: If you've come here looking for my TCM: Vintage Baby post, please scroll down.

Hey, y'all!  Long time, no see ;).  Just popping in here again to share Sketches in Thyme's final July sketch.  It's our two-pager, but I've borrowed the left side and flipped it 90 degrees to the right to find my inspiration for what you see here.  Enjoy!
I started this layout by anchoring a number of color-coordinating, patterned papers, to the teal, weave, base page, with brown-threaded, straight and zig-zag, machine stitches.  I then tucked three rows of Cameo-cut, Whisper White, cardstock, linked hearts behind my photographs, two of which were matted with Whisper White cardstock and the very top of which received a "FAVORITE", Polaroid, wood veneer frame.
The "bookworm" title was created from teal, foam Thickers and wood veneer alphas and grounded with a "YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW", cardstock sticker, which was grounded, at its left end, with a mustard button, laced with white string.
I then created the "11 01 08" date from navy, circle letters; tucked a "TRUE LOVE", cardstock sticker, just to their bottom left, under the Polaroid; and adhered a "THE Sweetest THING", wood veneer oval just to their top right.
A couple more wood veneer letters combine with the navy, polka dot ampersand, as well as a teal, paper bloom, to reflect my kiddos' first initials.
My journaling, which reads, Just to say hello and b/c she already loves you to bits, your baby sister got you a couple of your fav. books, was written on a navy-framed, floral, journaling sticker; popped up with foam tape; backed with a mustard tag, laced with brown string; and grounded with a bit of "NOV" flair.
Finally, more "TODAY" flair; a few more buttons, including a teal chipboard one, laced with white string; lots of mustard gemstones scattered about; and a couple of "SWEET" and "THANK YOU", cardstock stickers complete the look.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Color Me Scrappy's Challenge #42.  It's been awhile since I've gotten to play with these gals.  Sigh.  I've incorporated the additional "use woodgrain" twist with all my yummy, wood veneer tidbits.
And here's this week's Challenge #118 sketch to get you off and running in the right direction.
Don't forget that you have until the close of the month, on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, to link up your takes, in the right hand column of the Sketches in Thyme Blog, to be in the running to be named one of our Top 3 and have the opportunity to guest design with us during the month of September.  Really can't wait to see what you all cook up!  Thanks, as always, for peeking in, and have a truly blessed day!  Hugs!
