TCM: Turtle Love/Hogs & Kisses

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Tonight's the night, folks!  The Craft's Meow has a July Release that is simply packed with a variety of fun images and sentiments.  We've even got a brand spanking new and uber talented illustrator, Mindy Baxter, to debut, so she gets all of day one with her adorable Turtle Love and Hogs & Kisses stamp sets.  Here's how they inspired me.
I started this card by machine stitching, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches, a piece of teal, floral, patterned paper to the White, cardstock, card base.  I then wrapped it with a length of red, gingham ribbon, which was tied, in a bow, near the left edge and embellished with a green, fringed ribbon, tied in a bow, as well as a kraft button, laced with a white, chord bow.
The darling image was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a piece of Kraft cardstock, which had been framed with White cardstock and white-threaded, straight, machine stitches.
I then colored it with colored pencils and mineral spirits and grounded it with the stamped, in White ink, "Slow down and enjoy LIFE" sentiment, before adhering the prepped piece, with foam tape, to the card face, after tucking a bit of cheesecloth in behind it, to complete the look.
Obviously, that gives you a little taste of Turtle Love.  Now, how about we move on to Hogs & Kisses?
I started this card by piecing a variety of color-coordinating strips of patterned paper together; ink distressing their edges; adhering them to the Kraft, cardstock, card face; and machine stitching, with aqua-threaded, straight and zig-zag stitches, around their combined edges and between their connections.  I then stamped the bottom right corner, in Chocolate Chip ink, with the "Sow thankful to have you" sentiment...
and wrapped the prepped piece, just left of vertical center, with a length of pink ribbon, which was tied, in a bow, just below horizontal center.
I then topped that ribbon with the sweet, little piggies in their puddle of mud.  All of the images were stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a White, cardstock circle; paper-pieced; framed with Ballet Slippers cardstock, as well as pink-threaded, straight, machine stitches; and topped off with a touch of glitter for their ears.  A handful of clear gemstones completes the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from Deconstructing Jen's Deconstructed Sketch No. 109.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by, friends!  And I hope you'll join us all week for lots of beautiful creations from TCM.  Hugs!  Oh!  And don't forget to leave some love on the TCM Store Blog, by 8 pm PST tomorrow, for your chance to win these adorable sets.
