TCM: A Gift From Above

Monday, August 12, 2013

Well, hello there!  Just popping in to share a creation I have up on The Craft's Meow's Store Blog today, and I apologize, in advance, for the lighting.  It's been dreary in our neck of the woods.  We're getting a lot more rain than predicted, and the card is not exuding the warmth it does in real life.
I started this card by sponging Pretty in Pink ink, through a trellis stencil, onto a piece of White cardstock, ink distressing its edges, and color spritzing it with Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, and So Saffron inks, before adhering it to the Kraft, cardstock, card face.
I then layered strips of yellow floral and pink, designer, patterned papers, into the design, just right of vertical center and anchored them with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches, before wrapping the card face, horizontally, with a length of pink ribbon, which I tied, in a bow, near the left edge and embellished with a yellow button, laced with a white, chord bow.
A piece of gray, gingham, patterned paper was machine-stitched, with a white-threaded, straight-stitch, double frame; adhered, with foam tape, just to the ribbon's right; and topped with a soft gray doily, die-cut from patterned paper, as well as the silver embossed, on a hand-cut, vellum pennant, "A GIFT FROM ABOVE SWEET BABY LOVE" sentiment.
The sentiment was then grounded with stamped, in Jet Black ink, on White cardstock baby fabrics, which were colored in with pencils and mineral spirits and hand cut out...
and topped with the sun and cloud image, prepared in the same way as above with the exception of an additional dose of glitter.
Further inspiration for this card came from Paper Secrets' August 7th Card Sketch, which I've rotated 90 degrees to the left.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed week, friends!
