TCM: Summer Blog Hop

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

Hello, and welcome to The Craft's Meow's Summer Blog Hop!  You should be coming here from Jessica Fink's Blog, but if you didn't or want to start at the beginning, a complete list of hop participants can be found on the TCM Store Blog.  So, to highlight this month's summer theme, I pulled some memorable pictures from one of our family's summer vacations, paired it with both The Sweet Taste of Summer and Sending You Sunshine, and came up with this.
I started this layout by using my Cameo to cut the arrows into the yellow, designer, patterned, paper, base page.  I then backed it with a piece of teal, hot air balloons, patterned paper and machine stitched, with gold-threaded, straight stitches, a large circle just right of center.  After matting my photos with Whisper White cardstock and adhering them in the locations you see below, I framed the top photo with an aqua Polaroid, which I dressed up with a bit of "remember" flair, and flanked it with a "you make me so very happy" phrase...
as well as a gray tag, laced with a white, string bow, to house my journaling, which reads, A quick snap of Ezekiel and I preps us for this gorgeous view of Seven Falls from the balcony of the in-mountain elevator and gets us ready for the hike to the top.  A picnic lunch is so satisfying after.  The journaling tag was grounded with the sunshine and cloud image, which were stamped, in Jet Black ink, on White cardstock, hand cut out, and colored in with pencils and mineral spirits.
Another stamped image, prepared in the same way as above, grounds the entire design.  A "WAY COOL" tag and Colorado Springs, June 19, 2008, "date:" label round out is left side.
A handful of yummy, gold, polka dot rubons, as well as the stamped, in London Fog ink, "The Sweet Taste of Summer" phrase...
and "let's picnic" title, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Scrap Your Story's Challenge #22: Arrows and Stuck's August 1st Sketch.
Thanks so much for peeking in!  Now, off you go to Karen Baker's Blog to continue your hop.  We're also issuing a challenge to all of you to join us this month.  You will have one week to link up your newly-created, summer-themed projects.  Keep in mind that you must use at least one TCM stamp.  One randomly-drawn winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to the TCM Online Store.  Good luck!  Thanks again, and be blessed!
