Some Exciting News

Monday, September 23, 2013

Morning, friends!  I'm just thrilled to be here today sharing that I've been asked to join the talented Design Team at The Studio!  Eeek!  I cannot tell you how much I've enjoyed playing along with these girls over the last couple of years!  Anna asked us to create a layout about ourselves, which could include something we're really proud of, a favorite photo of our self, or really anything, as long as it was about us, for the call.  So, although I feel completely different about them today, I chose to scrap the prior with a pic of my very first publication.  Check it out!
I started this layout by stamping the watch face in Baja Breeze ink and the ink spots in Jet Black ink.  I then anchored a trio of patterned papers, as well as a gold, designer, patterned, paper pennant, to ground my photo, some with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  The "MY 1st Publication" title was then created, vertically, along their left edges, using red alphas; turquoise, rubon letters; and vellum bits, cut using my Cameo and outlined in Jet Black ink.
My photo was matted with Whisper White cardstock; wrapped, three times, with a length of Baker's Twine, tied, in a bow, near its left edge; pinned with a camera, wire, paper clip, which was embellished with a little length of black, chevron ribbon...
and dressed up with a "the best day ever" word bubble, which was cut from patterned paper and popped up with foam tape, as was the photo itself.  It was then topped with the April 2011 date...
and grounded with a "hello world" flashcard with a turquoise, woodgrain arrow pointing to it, as well as my journaling, which reads, It is so clearly that I still remember how proud I felt to see my very 1st printed creation.  There's nothing like knowing your hard work is appreciated.
An "all smiles", cardstock sticker, as well as a "GO FOR IT" tag complete the look.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Ashley's Patterned Paper Challenge at Do Less With More and Let's Get Sketchy's September Week 2 Sketch Challenge.
My first assignment, for The Studio, will post mid-October; and this is a bi-monthly challenge, so they'll be coming every two weeks thereafter.  So excited, y'all!  I hope you scrappers will come join in the fun!  Thanks so much for peeking in!  Have a wonderful start to your work weeks!  Hugs!
