Paper Sweeties Inspiration Challenge #12

Friday, October 11, 2013

Afternoon, y'all!  TGIF!  It's been a long, stressful week, for a number of reasons, in our neck of the woods; but we made it through, and even ended, on a high note, with my hubby getting a long overdue bonus at work.  Woohoo!  What can be better than that?!  So, I know I'm a little late to the party but wanted to toss in my take on Paper Sweeties' October challenge.  We're simply being inspired, in any way whatsoever, by the picture below this month.  Here's my take.
I started this card by securing a piece of coral, polka dot, patterned paper, which I had stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "Bountiful Blessings" sentiment, in the center of the Kraft, cardstock, card face, with aqua-threaded, straight, machine stitches.
A strip of multicolored, polka dot, patterned paper was then adhered across the horizontal center of the card face and anchored with aqua-threaded, zig-zag, machine stitches, before securing a bit of Oatmeal cardstock, which had been stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the sunflower images and colored in with pencils and mineral spirits, in the center of the card face, with more aqua-threaded, zig-zag, machine stitches.  A length of Ambrosia Cantaloupe seam binding ribbon, which comes directly from the Sweeties Shoppe (You can find the link at the bottom of this post.), was then wrapped, over all layers, around the horizontal center of the card face; tied in a double bow; and embellished with an aqua button, laced with a hemp twine bow, as well as trio of stamped, in Garden Green ink, on a green, gingham, patterned paper and hand-cut leaves.
Emma was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, on an ink distressed, die-cut, Oatmeal, cardstock label and colored in with pencils and mineral spirits, before being paper pieced with pants, prepared in the same way as Emma herself, and a poncho, stamped on patterned paper, and being adhered, with foam tape, just to the left of the embellished ribbon.  An orange, button blossom, laced with hemp twine, and a dash of glitter, for the large polka dots, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from The Shabby Tea Room's Week #187: Sketch This...
and here's our Paper Sweeties' Inspiration Challenge #12I was totally drawn to the shades of coral and orange in the pic.  I also couldn't resist that single sunflower, being as I'm from the Sunflower State; and of course, I had to toss in Emma with her sweet pigtails.
You have until the close of the month, on Thursday, October 31, 2013, to link up your takes, at the challenge link above, in order to be in the running to win a $20 gift certificate to the Paper Sweeties Shoppe, as well as to have the opportunity to guest design with us next month.  Looking forward to seeing what you all can cook up!  Thanks so much for stopping by, friends, and have a remarkable weekend!
