Guest Designing with ScrapFriends

Friday, January 31, 2014

Evening, friends!  I couldn't be any more thrilled to get to be back guest designing for ScrapFriends!  What an honor it is to get to create alongside such a talented group of women, and they've got a fabulous sketch to inspire your next creation!
ScrapFriends button
You'll be surprised that I've pulled in a couple shades of purple for my take.  I'm really trying to embrace it, being it's the color of the year; and I just loved it with the rest of the palette I created, as inspired by my latest papercrafting kit from JBS Mercantile.  Enjoy!
I started this page by using a sponge brush to paint a mix of water and Dusty Concord Distress Ink onto the aqua, ombre, base page.  I then stamped it, in Jet Black ink, with the dictionary meaning of love; threw on a couple bits of gold, rubon hash marks; and began layering all my papers, which were anchored with black-threaded, straight and zig-zag, machine stitches, along with a white, paper doily, as well as a vintage, banner-cut, perforated strip, right in the middle of it all.
After matting my photos with Whisper White cardstock and placing them over all existing layers, I tucked a gold-framed, journaling label, which reads, celebrating Valentine's Day @ The Cheesecake Factory, above them...
and flanked the far right photo with a couple of die-cut, from Whisper White cardstock, leaves, which I also glittered.
A Cameo-cut, from a fabulous, metallic, gold cardstock, row of connected hearts and lavender, ribbon flower, backed with a cluster of black thread, as well as the stamped, in Jet Black ink, FEB 15 2013 date...
and "love always" sentiment, which was created from transparent die cuts, ground the entire look and, along with a handful of sequin snowflakes, round out the design.
Here's Sketch Challenge #22 to get you off and running in the right direction.  Please be sure to stop by the challenge link above to get all the challenge details, as well as to be completely inspired by the Design Team.  Thanks again to Zeneva and her crew for having me this month!  I've had such a blast and can't wait to come back for more!
Thanks so much, to you all, for peeking in!  And for those of you coming back here looking for the start of Wplus9 Design's February/March Release, hang in there!  It's slightly delayed but full of fun and lots of opportunities to win in honor of our fourth birthday.  Woohoo!  Be blessed!
