Family Update

Afternoon, y'all!  Because so many of my posts have been about our little bear lately, I've completely failed to share all the behind the scenes stuff going on with the rest of us.  So, if you're interested, this post is all about just that with a little more of the former thrown in.  And if not, no worries.  I'll be back tomorrow to share a pretty, little, springtime number I've cooked up.  Hope to see you then!

So, the Saturday before Kaden was born, we took Ezekiel up to Liberty, Missouri to participate in Awana Quiz.  It's such a good experience for him to be challenged to hide so much of God's Word in his heart and recall lots of Biblical information and scripture from memory.  Unfortunately, he didn't do as well as he would've liked.  Actually, the whole team was disappointed in their performance.  They're learning the hard way that the results they get are a direct result of the time they invest ;).
We took a couple of weeks to adjust, before getting back to our studies, once Kaden was home.  So, we spent a lot of time reading...
playing in the snow...
watching movies...
and we even threw in a few art projects.
Oh!  And Ezekiel's been trying to help with Adina's hair.  LOL!  Those clips didn't stay in for long, but doing it kept them both busy for a good hour, which gave this mommy a little time to breathe.
For Valentine's Day, Ezekiel got new jeans and Adina a pretty, lined sweatshirt, paired with chocolate for both of them, of course.
I got this beautiful display of tulips, along with a hot Starbucks and beautiful card; and as has become tradition for us, we also celebrated with lunch at Red Robin.
Although it took us two days to finish them, we made our traditional, Valentine, sugar cookies, too.  Yum!
Ezekiel decided that he'd rather just hold Kaden than help with the cutting.  LOVE that!
Speaking of, look who got his first real bath.  He's not a fan, but he does look pretty peaceful in these pics ;).
I also couldn't resist throwing in a pic of this fabulous stack of hand-me-downs my long-time friend, Kari, passed on to Kaden.  We're so blessed!
Then, last Saturday, we dedicated Kaden at church.
My family came up for the occasion.  And if you're thinking somebody is missing from the pic below, you're right.  My hubby disappeared, and I couldn't find him anywhere.  Kaden was getting hungry and not putting up with all the pics.  So, we got what we could of the rest of the clan.
With the exception of Grandpa and Grandma, nobody had yet met Kaden.  So, there were plenty of kisses and cuddles to go around.
We've spent a lot of time going to and from my kiddos' pediatrician's office, for weight checks, since Kaden's birth; but this am, he finally reached his birth weight.  Woohoo!  And it only took a week longer than the average baby to boot.  Y'all, I was in tears.  It's been a long few weeks of nursing every two to two-and-a-half hours during the day and minimum of every three hours through the night, but we made it!  He's become so much more alert over the last few days, too.  So, we have a lot to celebrate, and the road ahead is getting brighter and brighter.  God is good!
Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Wonderful pictures Jinny! Nice to see and hear all are doing well! I love the second bath photo of little Kaden, he looks so sweet and comfy. I think he's telling you "Don't forget to get behind my ears mommy"!!! BIG hugs all around ;)

I loved seeing all your pictures. I noticed that one of our longtime friends was the one praying over you at the dedication. We have known Shibu over 20 years-he was in our wedding! :). So happy that your sweet boy reached birthweight too.

Hey Jinny, good to hear Kaden is growing and getting stronger. He sure looks alert in the photos and such blue eyes. Loved the pics of Adina and Ezekiel in the snow - waiting to see a scrap page of that one. And your reading area is so lovely and bright and so many books... can never have enough books.
