Congratulations On Your New Addition

Thursday, March 6, 2014

Hi, y'all!  Just popping in to share a card I made for some friends who just had their first baby last Saturday.  He was actually due on the same day as our little guy, which is so weird considering we were celebrating Kaden being one-month-old at the same time their Robbie was born.  So, anyway, enjoy!
I started this card by piecing a strip of aqua, hexagon, patterned paper into the bottom of the Kraft, cardstock, card face; rounding the bottom corners; anchoring it with brown-threaded, straight, machine stitches; and stamping its bottom center, in Jet Black ink, with the "Congratulations on your new addition" sentiment.
I then wrapped a length of aqua ribbon, around the card face, just above that patterned paper piece and tied it in a knot.
A bit of White cardstock was then stamped, in Pool Party ink, with the cloud images and, in Jet Black ink, with the layered clotheslines; ink distressed; trimmed, across its bottom edge, with a strip of die-cut scalloped, yellow, polka dot, patterned paper, which was anchored, across its top edge, with brown-threaded, zig-zag, machine stitches; and adhered, in the top center of the card face, with both foam tape and a bit of black, polka dot, Washi Tape.
The onesies were then stamped, in both Pool Party and Daffodil Delight inks, on White, cardstock die cuts; dressed up with stamped, in Jet Black, Chocolate Chip, and Daffodil Delight inks, images and "baby boy" phrase; and strung, hanging from the clothesline, with foam tape, as well as stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, clothespins.
A bit of glitter for the star on the far right onesie and trio of color-coordinating buttons, laced with hemp twine, complete the look.
And just because I love the girls in The Shabby Tea Room and don't often get to play along with challenges anymore, I'm adding another cutie to the Week #208: Pretty Polka Dots linky.
I know that I haven't been around much this week, but I'm still signing off for the weekend a little early and hoping it brings some time to sneak in an extra nap or two.  Those 2:00 am feedings are killing me, but getting to spend some one-on-one time with my littlest guy makes it all worthwhile.  I mean, just look at this sweet face.  Sigh.
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
