The Studio Scraplift Yourself Challenge

Sunday, March 2, 2014

Morning, y'all!  Just popping in to share a brand spankin' new challenge from The Studio.  We're asking you to Scraplift Yourself, with a layout that is at least a year old, this month.  This was a super tough challenge for me, as my style has changed so much over the years.  But I dug into my summer 2011 files for inspiration for this cutie, boasting lots of new goodies from Elle's Studio and a darling, vintage, Valentine image from JBS Mercantile.
I started this layout by rubbing Pumice Stone Distress Ink, through a heart stencil, onto the aqua, grid, base page.  I then stamped the same leafy stamp, which I haven't used in ages and couldn't resist bringing back out for this page, as my original layout below, in Daffodil Delight ink and embossed both the lace trim and array of doilies, using both Melon Mambo and Pool Party embossing powders.  My photo was then framed with Whisper White cardstock; flanked with a stamped, in Real Red ink, on White cardstock, and hand-cut, vintage, Valentine image...
and "the cutest details:" I'm crazy about you. label.  The label was further dressed up with a "family" chipboard phrase, as well as a stamped, in Daffodil Delight ink, on White cardstock, and hand-cut, word bubble, which was embellished with an enamel heart.
The photo was then grounded with a trio of color-coordinating, patterned papers, secured, with red-threaded, straight, machine stitches, just above the embossed trim.  I then created the "2012" numbers by cutting five layers from White cardstock, adhering them one on top of the other, ink distressing their edges, and glittering them.
The final number in the date was wrapped with a length of Baker's Twine, laced through a stamped, in Jet Black ink, "Happy Valentine's Day" label.
A "date:" Tues., February 14, 2012 label and handful of enamel dots complete the look.
And here's where it all began.  All the details and supplies for the making of this page can be found in my PDCC94 - Practicing Creativity post.
Don't forget to stop by the challenge link above to check out the fun creations made by the rest of the team, as well as to get all your challenge details.  Thanks so much for peeking in!  Have a blessed Sunday!  Hugs!

wonderful layout Jinny. Love the colours and the trick of 5 layers of cardstock to create dimension. I have a huge box full of alphas and numbers but am too lazy often to get them out.
