Morning, friends! I know it's been a long time. I can't believe that we're already near the middle of April! Everything has been super busy in my neck of the woods, but we're doing well, and I'm totally enjoying the springtime weather with my cuties. I'm hoping to do a little catching up this week, but until then, I'm just popping in to share The Studio's first challenge of the month. This time we're asking that you include numbers in your layout, whether they be in the title or journaling or both. I really wanted to design a page around my kiddos' birthdays being 07/07, 11/01, and 02/02, being as they each ended up with their own personal lucky number, but I have very few digital baby pics of my oldest and haven't yet printed many of my youngest. So, it'll have to wait for another occasion. In the end, I pulled a couple of pics from my big kiddos' first double-digit birthday and came up with this. Enjoy!
I started this layout by smudging Key Lime Glimmer Mist, stamping a number of chevrons in Wild Wasabi ink, and white embossing a bunch of stars, in strategic locations, throughout the yellow, script, base page. I then anchored a trio of color-coordinating, patterned papers, with white-threaded, straight and zig-zag, machine stitches, near the bottom of the page and tucked my photos, which had been matted with Whisper White cardstock, into their combined top edge. An arrow paperclip, laced with a bit of white string, tied in a bow, as well as an embossed, leaf sticker, trim the top left corner of the far left photo...
and a "DATE:" July 5, 2013 label tops them both.
I then created the cluster near the top center of the page around a "HAPPY" word, cut from patterned paper and stamped, in Chocolate Chip ink, with the "TIMES AHEAD" phrase. It was topped with a row of brown Alphabeans, anchored with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches, and grounded with a "SUCH A BEAUTIFUL DAY" tag.
The title-layering near the bottom right corner of the photographs was begun with a number tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow. I then tucked a green, chevron envelope under its right side and topped it with a vintage, yellow tag. The "10" journaling sprout is the first indication of my "10" theme and carries into my "10 years" title, which was created from raw chipboard, painted white, ink distressed, and glittered, as well as a Chocolate Chip, cardstock "years", die-cut using my Cameo and grounded with a yellow, sunburst envelope.
That journaling sprout was then topped with a quilt transparency, which was secured in place with a couple of simple staples and flanked with both a vintage, flair button and "HEY THERE" phrase, cut from patterned paper. The "10" theme was further carried into the design with a kraft, typography number, before the entire collection was grounded with a "GOOD TIMES" phrase, cut from patterned paper. A trio of yellow, sunburst sequins and handful of green, enamel dots complete the look.
Further inspiration for this layout came from Color Me Scrappy's Challenge #59...
and Sketchabilities' Sketch #112.
Please be sure to stop by the challenge link above to get all your challenge details, as well as to see how the rest of the team was inspired to incorporate numbers into their designs. Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful week!
