Well, I'm getting back to posting a little sooner than I had anticipated earlier this week, but my blog visits are seriously lacking. Ugh! There simply aren't enough hours in a day, friends; but I'd really love to share a little of what we've been up to, over the last week, if you're interested. If not, no worries. I've got August For the Love of Books and Friday Faves posts lined up for the remainder of this week but cooked up some creative stuff for next week. Hope to see you again soon!
With that said, last week, we took a much needed family vacation to Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was close enough for my littlest to survive being strapped in his car seat and my biggests to not run out of books, coloring pages, or snacks. We traveled most the day last Monday but arrived in time to check into our hotel and head to Target Stadium to cheer our Kansas City Royals on to another win against the Minnesota Twins.
Mill City Museum. This was such a fun place to start our time in Minneapolis, because aside from learning about how the flour industry propelled Minneapolis into much of what it is today, it taught us tons about the city itself. Plus, just check out these views of the Mississippi Riverfront!
Minnesota Zoo. It wasn't one of our faves, but we love zoos and had a great day visiting our furry friends.
Davannis Pizza ended our day out with a bang! Yum-O! Wish we had one of these in Kansas City! Even Kaden wanted a piece of the action. LOL!
Mall of America the next morning. That place has gotten so BIG! BJ and I visited years ago on our honeymoon, but goodness gracious, it isn't now what it was back then. It was super overwhelming for this non-shopper, but we still enjoyed our short stay and are proud to say that all we came out with was a much-needed pair of tennies for myself and a couple new Lego sets for my kiddos. Woohoo! Oh, we also filled our tummies with yum-yums from Rainforest Café.
Ikea. Now, don't get me wrong. We've been introduced and know one another well. I've just never been to an actual location. How fun, though! Plus, with our very own Kansas City Ikea opening in just two weeks, we had to scope things out. Unfortunately, I didn't get a single picture. I know... Shame on me! I think I was all pictured out. Plus, Kaden's a bit of a squirmy, little thing and makes it difficult to get good pics sometimes. So, I just stashed the camera and enjoyed the scenery. Once again, we were uber frugal and left with only a couple of decorative bins for my creative space and a rug for Ezekiel's bedroom, but our heads were bursting with ideas to continue making our house a home.
Well, that covers the highs. We had a number of frustrating and creepy issues with our hotel and were totally turned off by the steep parking fees, literally, all over Minneapolis, but we're still bringing home lots of wonderful memories of our time just being together as a family. Thanks so much for checking in on us! Have a wonderful Wednesday, y'all!
