Paper Sweeties October Release Countdown

Monday, October 13, 2014

Welcome back to the second day of Paper Sweeties' October Release!  The Design Team has whipped up some spectacular projects to share with you all.  So, please be sure to stop by their links below and leave them a little love.  But before that, I'd love to share how I've used Trim the Tree and its coordinating Trim the Tree die, as well as the new Joy die, in combination with a couple of oldies but goodies, on a scrapbook page.
I started this page by stamping one of the trees, illustrated in Trim the Tree, in Jet Black ink, in diagonal rows near both the top and bottom of my Whisper White base page, colored it in with pencils, and decked out the ornaments in Xmas Red Stickles.  I then gold embossed a row of another tree just below the top diagonal and stamped a row of yet another tree, in Old Olive ink, just below that, before framing the entire piece with Real Red cardstock.  Despite the fact that it appears off-center, the white background is a perfect 11" square within its 12" square frame.  It's sometimes difficult to photograph a perfect square, as those scrappers among you can attest.  A quartet of color-coordinating, patterned papers were then secured, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches, between and overlapping a few of the stamped rows; and a number of lengths of Washi tape were tucked in throughout.  My photos, which were matted in Whisper White cardstock, were then wrapped together with a bit of sheer, red ribbon, tied in a bow.
Their bottom left corner was decked out with a die-cut, from gold cardstock, "Noel", as well as a die-cut, from Old Olive and Early Espresso cardstocks, tree, which I topped with a red, star button, laced with white thread, tied in a bow.  I chose to leave the tree die cut "naked", but there is one final tree image, in the stamp set, for a total of four fabulous trees, that fits it perfectly.
A chevron envelope was then tucked in behind the cluster.  It houses my journaling card, which was laced with a bit of Baker's Twine and reads, You were so diligent to chip away @ those lights one by one.  Unfortunately, you had to head back to Sioux Falls for the work week without finishing.  So, I was thrilled to be able to take it off your plate & have it all ready for you to enjoy by your next weekend visit.
The top corner of that same photograph was embellished with a trio of phrase bits, as well as a couple of labels, stamped, in both Real Red and Jet Black inks, with Paper Sweeties' phrases.
In moving clockwise around the photographs, the "Patience is a virtue" title, which was backed with a simple, white doily, was created from a Cameo-cut, gold, cardstock "Patience"; stamped, in Jet Black ink, on Whisper White cardstock, "is" and "a"; and red alphas.
A handful of gold, star sequins scattered about and a stamped, in Jet Black ink, "a day in the life DEC  08 2013" date complete the look.
I've got another page to share tomorrow and will round out this release with a card creation the day after that.  Until next time, thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a terrific Tuesday, y'all!
