Paper Sweeties February Release Party

Saturday, February 14, 2015

Today's the day, folks!  Garden Time and Pretty Posies, along with their coordinating dies, are officially available in the Paper Sweeties Shoppe.  But before you're off to getting them while they're hot, I promised you all a page, showcasing the two new stamp sets, today, and I'm here now to deliver.  Check it out!
I started this page by smudging Patina Glimmer Mist across a piece of kraft cardstock, which had its left side trimmed with a strip of multicolored, stripe, patterned paper, grounded with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches and flanked with a couple strips of black, polka dot Washi.  The entire page was then ink distressed, before I used a stencil to create the sun and large flowers with Squeezed Lemonade, Barn Door, and Peeled Paint Distress Inks.  I also etched around them with black ink just to help them stand out a bit more and stamped lots of blooms and clouds, in White ink, throughout the design.
My photos were then matted with Whisper White cardstock and adhered in their present positions amidst a heap of blooms, some of which were hand-cut from patterned paper, but the bulk of which showcase Paper Sweeties' new, Pretty Posies, stamp set perfectly.  Those images were stamped, respectively, in Pool Party, Pretty in Pink, and Tangerine Tango inks, on Pool Party, Pink Pirouette, and Tangerine, cardstock die cuts and dressed up with lots of little stamped, in Lucky Limeade ink, on the same color of cardstock die cuts, leaves.
I just love the little, stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a woodgrain, patterned paper, garden pick, which was filled in with the stamped word "Happy", tucked in amidst all the yumminess.
I gave lots of dimension to everything, including a couple of the photographs, with foam tape.  The far right photograph was also wrapped with a length of white string, tied in a bow...
before tucking a few punched, vellum clouds under the photos and securing a couple more, near the top of the page, with black-threaded, messy, machine stitches.
More of that messy stitching grounds the "life BEGINS IN A garden" title, which was created from red, alpha stickers; black, foam Thickers; white, sticker letters; and a Cameo-cut, from the same kraft, cardstock background, "garden".
A hand-written, June 20, 2014, date, as well as stamped, in Jet Black ink, speckles and "Make Today Beautiful" and "Embrace Life" phrases, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Let's Get Sketchy's February Week 1 Sketch...
and Kraft Plus' February Challenge: Mango Breeze.
I'll be back tomorrow with one final creation to wrap up release week.  Until then, please be sure to stop by the Design Team's blogs to see all the beautiful creations they've worked so hard to create for you all, and have a blessed Sunday!

Awesome layout! I used to garden, but switched to paper crafting. Doesn't seem to be enough time to do both.
