Call When It's Time for Cake

Saturday, April 25, 2015

Welcome to the weekend, y'all!  I promised, in yesterday's Friday Faves post, that I'd be back today to share a card I made for my nephew's second birthday this week.  If he's anything like my kiddos, I knew his card would get handled and carried around everywhere he went.  So, I thought I'd make doing so extra fun with lots of textures.
I started his card by smudging Key Lime and Patina Glimmer Mists onto the White, cardstock, card face.  I then sprinkled it with a little Gold Color Shine, before machine-stitching a hand-cut, from a Project Life card, banner, with gold-threaded, straight stitches, down its center and wrapping it with a length of hemp twine, which I tied, in a bow, near the right edge of the card face.
I then layered another card, stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the simple "FOR YOU" phrase, over the pennant and under the twine, as well as a third, stamped again in Jet Black ink, with the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY {call when it's time for cake.}" sentiment, in the center of the card face, over a bit of vellum.
The little fox was stamped, in More Mustard ink, on White cardstock; hand cut out; and adhered, with foam tape, just to the left of the sentiment.  A "THESE ARE GOOD TIMES yes they are!" tag was tucked under its bottom edge.
The balloon was stamped, in Coastal Cabana ink, on a White, cardstock die cut and adhered, with foam tape, near the top center of the card face.  I then anchored the balloon with a hand-penned, little string, tied to the sentiment itself, and gave it lots of shine with Crystal Effects.
A handful of aqua circle and gold star sequins complete the party effect.
We're off to Midwest Parent Educators' Conference and Curriculum Fair this am.  It's always so encouraging to talk with other homeschool families, empowering to attend the conference classes, and just plain fun to peruse through all the books and educational games.  Thanks so much for humoring me with a visit!  Be blessed!
