Cupcake Inspirations Surprise Sweetie

Sunday, April 12, 2015

I'm super excited to have the honor of being Cupcake Inspirations Surprise Sweetie this week!
And I'm even more excited to be sharing a creation today to go with their new, comic book, theme challenge!  This one was a little tricky for me, not because I don't adore comics.  Who doesn't?!  Plus, comic book movies are one of my all-time favorite kind.  I just don't have a lot of comic-themed goodies in my stash.  But I scoured my stamps, hit the Silhouette Online Store, and am thrilled with what transpired.
I started this card by smudging Tinsel and Navy Color Shine, as well as Fully Purple Glimmer Mist, onto a piece of White cardstock.  Once it was dry, I inked the bottom half with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, just to further accentuate the skyline, and the top edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  I then gave it a little splatter with Chalk Glimmer Mist, before anchoring it, to the White, cardstock, card face, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  The skyline was then cut, from Black cardstock, with my Cameo; white-embossed with the "YOU'RE OUT OF THIS WORLD!" sentiment; and adhered in the bottom portion of the prepped piece.
The top of the card face was wrapped with a length of Charcoal twine, which was tied, in a bow, near the right edge of the card face...
and topped with the comic book vector cut file, which was created from Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Brocade Blue, and White cardstocks, separated with foam tape.  The White, cardstock, word bubble was stamped, in Brocade Blue ink, with "DAD", as well as, in Jet Black ink, with the word "SUPERSTAR".  Just to make the latter stand out a bit more, I used a fine-tip, black marker to color in the shadowing.
A few stamped, in White ink, stars, as well as a trio of gold, sequin stars, complete the look.
Here's your Challenge 305: Comic Book graphic, sponsored by MyGrafico, to get you off and going in the right direction.  Be sure to stop by the blog to get all your challenge details.
I'm also adding this one to House of Cards' April Color Inspiration Challenge.
Can't wait to see what you all whip up!  Thanks so much for humoring me with a visit!  And a big thanks to the Cupcake Inspirations Design Team for having me this week!  Be blessed!
