The Studio Inspired by a Song Challenge

Sunday, April 26, 2015

We've got one more April challenge in The Studio, folks!  Whether its the title or the lyrics or absolutely whatever speaks to you, we want to see pages inspired by a song.  I used this challenge to issue my daughter a challenge of her own to live for the Lord Every Day, which just so happens to be the title of this particular song by Hillsong United, of her life.  I was inspired by some new goodies in my Noel Mignon Hello Darling Classic Kit and couldn't help but throw in lots of stamping and layers.
I started this page by printing the lyrics to the song on a sheet of vellum and anchoring it, along with a few patterned paper strips, to the pink, bokeh, patterned, paper, base page, with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then began layering all the bits in behind my photo, which was matted with Whisper White cardstock, including a textured tag, laced with hemp twine; pink, grid, patterned, paper square, framed with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching; handful of paper bits, hand-cut from a Crate Paper patterned paper; sheet of vellum; chipboard "CAPTURED" Polaroid...
gold foil, flower sticker; "enjoy" word bubble; and "EVERYDAY" sticker.
I then had fun playing with the layering of the banners below the photograph itself.  Both of the smaller banners were created from triangle and circle stickers respectively.  The latter were cut in half, and both were flanked with white, string bows.  I then stamped balloons, in Pool Party, second-generation Strawberry Slush, Barely Banana, and Island Indigo inks, on White, cardstock die cuts and hanging from stamped, in Jet Black ink, strings.
My "EVERY day" title was Cameo-cut from Whisper White and Island Indigo cardstocks.  The latter half of it was glittered, and the space below it used for my journaling, which reads, You were trying to find something quiet to busy yourself with, while I was nursing Kaden, when you crawled up on the couch with Daddy's MP3 player.  As soon as you caught me watching you, you said, "Now my ears are filled with God, because all this music is about Him."  Love your literal thinking!  Through good times and bad, may these words be the song of your {heart} every day of your life.
Feb. 22, 2014, label...
number of music notes, stamped, in Jet Black ink, throughout the design...
and a "loved." Washi sticker complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Let's Capture Our Memories' Sketch #118...
and Sassy Scrappers' April Moodboard.  I was totally in love with not only this soft, girly palette, but also those playful, party garlands; gorgeous pops of gold; and the bit of bokeh effect in the top corner of the stacked bowls photograph.
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to get all your challenge details, as well to be inspired by my talented teammates.  You have until Saturday, May 10, 2015, to link up your takes, on this Inspired by a Song Challenge and/or our Sketch Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio Blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week, friends!
