The Studio Sketch Challenge

Monday, April 13, 2015

Morning, y'all!  I trust you all had a wonderful weekend.  I'm just popping in to share my take on The Studio's newest challenge, based upon the sketch to follow.  Enjoy!
I started this page by inking Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, through a sunburst stencil, onto the textured, kraft, base page; smudging Navy Color Shine over that; stamping it, in Night of Navy ink, with the irregular grid, as well as, in White ink, with the line of arrows near the base of the page; and machine stitching, with yellow-threaded, straight stitches, the lengths of either side of the inked rays.  I then matted my photo with Whisper White cardstock and layered it over a bit of vellum, as well as number of patterned paper pieces, many of which were framed with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  A row of horizontal, Cameo-cut, patterned, paper chevrons backs the bulk of the design.  Then, moving from the top right corner of the photo clockwise, I tucked a red arrow, hand-cut from patterned paper and topped with a "reflections" sticker, as well as a couple of die-cut, White, cardstock clouds, amidst the top layers.
A "REMEMBER THIS", chipboard Polaroid, as well as both stamped, in Jet Black ink, "KEEP SMILING" and sticker "boy style" phrases, rounds the top corner...
to a couple of tags, laced with Baker's Twine and white string respectively, and leads the way to an "11", cardstock, circle sticker, popped up with foam tape, as well as the "SNAPSHOT DETAILS" label.  The latter was tucked between a couple of Cameo-cut, from White and Daffodil Delight cardstocks, open frames.
The bottom left corner was dressed up with a baseball that I die-cut from White cardstock and hand stitched.  A stamped, in Jet Black ink, "on cloud nine" phrase...
turns our attention to the final corner with its trio of tags.  One of the tags was stamped in Jet Black ink.  The other two were laced with white string and a braided chord respectively.
The "do what YOU LOVE" title was cut, from Night of Navy cardstock, with my Cameo...
and grounds all my journaling, which was dressed up with a little, orange arrow, popped up with foam tape.  It reads, This was your last season playing @ the YMCA but your first with Coach Hugh and the Brewers.  You had a rainy start to the season, but it all ended in the heat of a true Kansas summer with your eyes looking forward to your first season of fall ball.  I just love watching you do what you love!  (back row: Coach, Tulie - TJ, Aden, Caden, Ben, Ezekiel, Max, Mr. Waller, and Coach Bob; front row: Colby, Robby, Nick, Nathan, and Thomas).  A string of silver, glitter, sticker hearts, tucked in behind the photo, and sprinkling of both silver sequins and more of that yummy, Navy Color Shine complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Paper Issues' April Pinspire Me Monday...
and Kraft Plus' April Retro Recipe Challenge.
And here's our Sketch Challenge, based upon Seungeun's layout from last month's Use Your Old Stash Challenge and which I rotated 90 degrees to the right, to inspire your next page.
Please be sure to check out the challenge link above for all your challenge details, as well as to be thoroughly inspired by my talented teammates.  You have until May 10, 2015, to link up your takes in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful work week, friends!
