Little Baby Bumblebee

Monday, June 8, 2015

Morning, y'all!  I hope you all had wonderful weekends.  I was thrilled to sneak in a little scrappy time late at night and into the wee hours of the mornings, and my hubby got the lawn mowed, despite the fact that we received lots more rain/storms both Saturday morning and Sunday night and that everything is a muddy, mucky mess.  Anyway, we're off to Vacation Bible School in just a bit, but I wanted to quick sneak this cutie in before time got away from me.  Enjoy!
I started this card by clear embossing the honeycomb background onto a piece of watercolor paper.  I then washed over it with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink.  A little water coloring, with Wild Honey Distress Ink, gives a few of the hexagons a bit more dimension before misting over everything with Pearl Glimmer Mist just for a touch of shine.
Once it was dry, I trimmed its right edge with both a strip of floral, patterned paper and a length of black, polka dot Washi Tape.  After securing the prepped piece to a Daffodil Delight, cardstock mat, I stamped the partial "little baby bumblebee" sentiment, in Jet Black ink, on a vellum, banner die cut and anchored it, flush with the edge of the mat, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches running all the way around the edges of the watercolor piece.  A length of hemp twine was wrapped between the Washi Tape and floral strip and tied, in a bow, near the top edge of the prepped piece before adhering it, to the Kraft, cardstock, card face, with foam tape.
I then black-embossed the baby bumblebee onto watercolor paper and watercolored it in shades of Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, & Pumice Stone Distress Inks, as well as in Pretty in Pink and Blush Blossom inks from Stampin' Up.  It was then cut out and adhered, with foam tape, in its respective position, amidst a sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh sequins.
The "Welcome" sentiment was die-cut, from Black cardstock, with my Cameo; adhered along the right edge of the card face; and given a little more interest with Crystal Effects to complete the look.
Inspiration for this card came from Pretty Pink Posh's Watercolor Blog Hop.
Thanks, as always, for humbling me with a visit!  Have a fantastic work week, friends!
