Colour Me... Striking!

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

Morning, y'all!  I'm back to share another pretty palette up over at Colour Me...!  This one calls for Stampin' Up's Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist and inspired me to create a card for my cousin, Chris, and his family.  You may remember me sharing a few pics back here of their first son and our Kaden, who were born on the same day, meeting one another and playing together.  Well, Chris and his beautiful wife were brave enough to do it again and welcomed another baby boy, William, into the world last week.  I'd been thinking about what to use for a card for them, when I came across this card made by my friend Anya.  I knew that I had some patterned paper with a similar, sweet image, and the rest is history.  Thanks for the inspiration, Anya!
I started this card by piecing a trio of patterned papers, horizontally, onto the White, cardstock, card face and machine-stitching them together with silver-threaded, straight and zig-zag stitches respectively.
I then stamped a "RECORDED" journaling card, as well as the bottom center of the card face, in Jet Black ink, with the "heaven sent" and "Congratulations" phrase and sentiment.
The journaling card was then adhered, to the center of the card face, just above the sentiment, before wrapping a length of white, seam binding ribbon, around the card face, between two of the papers' connection; tying it in a double bow; and embellishing it with a blue button, laced with a white, chord bow.
The baby face was hand-cut from patterned paper; framed with a bit of White cardstock before being popped up with foam tape just below the stamped phrase; and embellished with a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on White cardstock and watercolored, with Marina Mist, Brocade Blue, Crumb Cake, and Chocolate Chip inks, sailboat.  The latter was hand-cut out, adhered with foam tape, and given a hint of Wink of Stella shine, along with the baby's cheeks, to complete the look.
Here's your Creative Challenge No. 79 graphic to get you moving in the right direction.
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  We'd also love to have you play along with us!  You have until 12 noon EST, on Monday, July 13, 2015, to link up your takes over at that same challenge link above.  Oh!  And don't forget to check out last week's Creative Challenge No. 78 Top Picks.  It was so fun visiting you all!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful Wednesday!
